Stayed at the Grand Mercure Bangkok Asoke Residence for 4 nights as I have never stayed in the Asoke area before.
I opted for the Executive King Suite which was $5000 baht and was absolutely huge.
When i arrived myself and my friend had both booked the same room online within minutes of each other.
When we got there they told me I had to take a cheaper room as the room i booked wasn't available until the next day.
They put me in a suite that was about 3000 baht and also quite nice but smaller than the executive.
For a 5 star hotel they were not very generous because of the mistake and only offered free breakfast.
Anyway the executive suite turned out to be really good with a full kitchen, dining room and washer/dryer.
There was a large bedroom and two bathrooms and a big living room and nice balcony.
The breakfast room was really small but my girlfriend got them to deliver it to our suite.
Pool was not too small and big enough to do laps plus had a decent view.
The neighbourhood is very quiet and 2 blocks from Terminal 21.
We easily could walk to Check Inn bar and even Nana.
We both checked in with ladyboys and had no issue.
The elevators require a key card so there didn't seem to be any issue as long as we had the key.
Coming back drunk at night with the LBs there was never a question even when the staff was new.
Great suites but the place is a little more like condos that a real 5 star hotel.
