I just got back from Thailand and stayed in BKK for 9 days all of them spent at the Majestic Grande. It was the first time I had stayed there and I have to say this will be my hotel of choice for future trips.

Location - Only about 500 metres from Nana plaza via shortcut from soi 4 to soi 2.
Pool - Quite nice, although not the best one I have been in it was good.
Staff - The friendliest most helpful staff I have seen in BKK. No strange looks when you come back with guest and any problems or questions are met with enthusiasm.
Value - I think relatively speaking is great value for money. My rate of $95 AUD included breakfast.

All in all cannot recommend it highly enough

Could you tell me in which rooms you stayed (Superior/Deluxe/Premium/?), on the top or the bottom and what was the bathroom like? I have booked already, but I want to know if it's worth upgrading once I get there. Also, did you let the hotel pick you up from the airport and if so, how much was it? Thanks!

(Singaling @ May 06 2006,21:15) Could you tell me in which rooms you stayed (Superior/Deluxe/Premium/?), on the top or the bottom and what was the bathroom like? I stayed in the superior room for 7 nights then went to Phuket and came back for my last 2 nights and they upgraded me to the premier. The premier was slightly bigger from what I could tell and the bathrooms were nice in both and quite large. I stayed on the 22nd floor first time and 21st on the return, has some great views.

I never have anyone pick me up from airport. No point when it only costs about 250 - 300 THB in a taxi to get into the Sukhumvit area.

Sounds like you have not been to Thailand before? If not then you should read all you can in the newbie threads.

I have stayed in Majestic Grande a few times absolutely no complaints.

I stay in hotels about 5-7months of the year depending on work load, ranging from no star to 5 star. For the money the Majestic Grande has no competition outside Thailand, & inside, well its all a question of taste & personal choice but for my money its excellent. But staying in Majestic Suites this time been staying there for years too, same company, same excellent service & staff, just cheaper, but still excellent value.

You pays your money & takes your chance. This isn't a rehearsal do it now, it's no good looking back when it's a lover & wishing.... ITS TOO LATE.

I'll add my vote for the Majestic Grande - Stayed in their bog-standard room, for £44 per night booked through the hotel's own website. - Excellent quality and intend staying there again when I come back in June.

              Cheers

The least expensive site I found to book through for the Majestic Grande is Planet Holiday...

Their price for a superior room is $63 USD including taxes and breakfast.....$86 USD for a delux room...........

                          JB,

When I come to Thailand I have one of my Thai friends that work for a University or has a Governement job ring and make the booking for me. i.e. corporate rate..........especially helpful when travelling upcountry where rates tend to be more expensive than the websites mention e.g asiarooms.com and asiahotels.com

Having said when I have not been able to access a CR I have tried the simple walk in rate and on more than one occasion recieved better rates than telephone or internet. However I would not reccomend this for high season (Nov-Feb) in Bangkok.

Sending an email directly to the hotel telling them you have stayed there before and would like another wonderful experience blah blah..........sometimes works!

So try a few different ways and see which one works for you and your pocket.

I had a few night in the Majestic was very happy with the room my only bitch would be the lifts were extremely slow sometimes a 10 min wait but it was new year and I think that they were working on some of the floors so it might be better now.

the majestic grande is by far my hotel of choice in bangkok - so far. NEVER even the slightest notice made of my blatant mongering. if i make the date over the phone, they call up and send her up. very cool. new, clean, luxurious, awesome buffet each morning. a bit pricier than any other place i stay in thailand, but i'm worth it.
although....next time i intend to try the new dynasty grande. at 1800 thb versus the 2990 thb i last paid at MG.
i'll let you know how that goes at the end of the month.
