  • novotel lotus.... worst hotel

Novotel Lotus hotel on soi33,bangkok is the worst hotel i have ever come across. They were paid several thousand dollars up front for 2 weeks accomodation inc breakfast and still had the greed to ask for a security deposit. Hotels should pay guests a security deposit in case the staff take a liking to their belongings......but that would never happen would it!!!
Worse is their guest policy.....1,000 baht joiner fee per guest between 10pm and 6 am....greedy in the extreme.Fortunately this hotel package was given to me,but i will never stay in this shithole again.

In all due respect you are way way off base regarding this Hotel. I have stayed at this Hotel exclusively for the past four years. I book a room, a double, through Asiarooms, prepay to get the best rate and I have never had a problem. Prior to hooking up with my sweetie I was known to have brought back LB'S for short time and later in the morning for LT and I never had an additional charge on my bill upon check out. After the LB left and picked up her ID I would get a call and ask if everything was O.K. Even before they got to know my mug by sight I was accorded this same service. As for them asking for a security deposit the only thing they ever requested was to provide them with a credit card for additional billing purposes and if I did not have any charges I was given the slip back for my own disposal. Nothing was ever taken from my room and believe me I would wonder out and about and forget to put some valueables in the safe. Sorry to hear that your experiance was so negative but I am positve that it is not the norm for the Novotel Lotus Hotel.

i am spot on with my comments re this hotel.there is a big sign near the lifts saying no visitors between 10pm and 6 am.some officious prick interrogates every couple against his guest printout..and if your name is not on the list as a registered visitor,it's no visit or 1,000 baht. they have no right asking for your credit card details if you have paid everything you want up front. i did not say i had anything stolen from here....but they want your credit card details because they don't trust everyone....why should i trust their hotel staff.......many hotel guests have had items stolen, including huge amounts of money from safety deposit boxes....especially in thailand...

        Hello Bigkev,

I have no experience of the Lotus Novotel but I appreciate you had a bad experience there.

        A couple of points though.

It's very common to ask for a credit card at check in at hotels right around the world.   Why  -  because it's very common for the guests to leave with ashtrays, towels, bedding, pictures , fridges, even furniture!
Oh yes and I nearly forgot - the light bulbs.

While I understand your worry about the hotel staff having your credit card details  -  I have never had any problems in Thailand and don't know anyone who has.
Having said that I will only use my card at large reputable companies.  At any small operation I pay cash.

I disagree with completely with your comment  'many hotel guests have had items stolen, including huge amounts of money from safety deposit boxes....especially in thailand...'

I have a fairly good idea what goes on in hotels around the world  -  my experience of Thailand is they are amongst the people Least likely to steal your possesions.
