Think I'll stay at the Royal Hotel next trip. Should be interesting to stay near Kao San instead NEP.

If I wantto get to NEP though, is there a quicker way than taxi all the way. Maybe a taxi to a skytrain or subway?

Might all stay at the ShangriLa if I can get agood deal on Priceline but the days of 2500 baht rooms on Priceline for the shang seem long gone.

Don't do it, buddy! It's so bloody far away from EVERYTHING, you'll really get tired of wasting time in cabs.
For me it's: Never the river and never Khao Sarn. Try Silom, if you look for something different and from Sala Daeng to Nana it's really a short ride with the sky train.
