  • Ambassador hotel

    Hi Fellas

This is my first post here. Have a trip to Bkk coming up in early Feb. Plane tickets and accomodations already paid up.

After browsing through the forum at bkktonight, I realised that Ambassador Hotel is not exactly guest friendly, not to mention lb friendly.

I could ask to change the room to a doubles but still may get hassled for a joiner fee. What are my options?

Not sure about the Ambassador in terms of guest friendliness maybe someone else can confirm. However if you are not going until Feb then should be able to just cancel without penalty, but of course read the fine print on the terms and conditions of your booking first. Then just search the archives for another hotel which is guest friendly and in your price range.

I did stay in Ambassador many times and had never problems with girls or lb´s. As i had always booked for two persons, i did also not pay a joiner fee.
Ok, i don´t know maybe in the meantime the hotel has changed. The last time i was in Ambassador was in March 2004.

I am not sure about the other guys but I would want the hotel to check my girls id as it gives me some peace of mind.

The first time I experienced this I felt a bit weird. It was a bit big brother-ish. But as time went by and I experienced it several times I realised that it was totally routine, the security guys didn't give a fuck if you were bringing a blind dwarf back to your room, and, of course, I began to realise the benefits of it in terms of security, etc.

            cheers

              Thanks, guys!

I cannot cancel at this point in time. So I will try to change to a double occupancy room and keep my fingers crossed.

              Once again, thanks.

Try the Tower wing at the Ambassador rather than the standard rooms, a few bht more, but you dont have to go in past the main reception, there is still security there, but a little more private.
Have ever had a problem with (1) Guest, more than one is not really appreciated though

It's confirmed the Ambassador Hotel is NOT guest friendly.  A few days ago my friend tried to have a gg bargirl over there and was charged 650 Baht for a joiner fee.

Did your friend have a double occupancy room?

No, he had booked it as a single room. It may have been okay if he booked a double, but some places will ask for a name for the partner on check in. Not sure if Ambassador does this.

In Ambassador you have to book a double room. I always booked via an internet travel agency, for the second person you take any name. Up to now I never had any troubles.
