Don't know about the Windsor Hotel as I prefer to stay next door at the Windsor Suites Hotel. Sooooo much nicer and not that expensive when you do a Google Search to find the best price. I just book one of their Diplomat Suites for two and give them a name for the second person. Never, repeat never, have been hassled by security or the front desk staff when I bring back an LB for afternoon or LT night action.

Not sure you mean by giving a second name....? Does the hotel check the name of the LB on an ID Card and match it to the second name given on the room?

Make up a name, or give them one of the LB'S name from this site. In all my trips whenever I have booked a double and have had to provide a name and I have doen so with a phoney name I have never been hit with a joiner fee. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Have any of you stayed at the Ambassador in the last few months? If so, any problems with taking guests (especially ladyboys) back to your room? I would like to stay there since they have a fitness center which is not usual for a hotel in their price range in Bangkok. I plan to book a tower room at the double (twin) rate if I decide to stay there. Would appreciate any advice. Also, anyone know of any guest friendly hotels in the $40.00 range that has a fitness center?
              Thanks

I did stay end of February in Ambassador for one night. No problems with guests (gg and lb). The security did only take the id-card. But i have to mention i booked a double room.

I was staying in Ambassador in february, booked a single room and was asked for 600 B by one of the staff when me and a ladyboy was going to the alivator.
I told him: "yes, I will pay the woman in the check in counter". Suddenly he just asked for 300 B. Horny as hell, I payed, but moved to a friendlier hotel next morning.

Ambassador is in central location, for an afternoon action you have some bars like Beergarden in Soi 7, 7/1 (Eden club) or also some in Soi 5.
Big hotel so in the afternoon or early evening you will not have any problem to bring somebody in your room. In the night the security will check the id-cards. I did always book a double room so i did never pay a joiner fee.

From another forum, the Ambassador is NOT guest friendly in any way shape or form, in fact totally hostile, wether GG or LB. Avoid!

bigkev..I just found this about Ambassador...it doesn't give me a positive thought. Not sure if booking a room for two will do the trick but fear it won't..please read:

The clientele at The Ambass now is about 75% indian/middle eastern. They have huge bus tours of them coming in daily. they seem to really enjoy the place. one detractment from the ambass is the now mandated "guest charge" of 650 baht/night; They never had this in the past but you can trust the dude that there is no way around it now. another is the foul stench that passes thru the nasal passages upon entering the facility. A good point is the bird sanctuary. They have a cool bird who says hello to you and speaks thai but he bit off some skin from the tip of my finger when I taunted him once,,,," bad bird, no good, you hurt da dude, youre bad". try the Business Inn on 11. No idea what the rates are but the place is brand spanking new. Give the dude a call when you get in, He's always hovering round the vicinity. Can you dig? if needed I can bring a shovel to you so you can dig the biz inn and all of the great advices that the dude provides for you
