I stayed there...not only a long walk, but there is a channel on the TV where you can watch everyone who comes in the building...either by the front desk or the back door. Interesting viewing around one am.

Cheers for the offer Bartman, but am pretty much sorted on places to go thanks to the forum. I'm only in town for a short time so will probably hit the Nana in BKK and Walking Street and Hi Boss in Pattaya. I'm currently in Aus on holidays, leave for BKK on Monday week, then 6 days of Heaven before back to the chill of London. No doubt I'll pass a few members on my travels.Beer Baron

I'm thinking of staying at Omni Tower - which I see from my search (yes!) - has had some positive forum reviews in the past. On one BKK hotel rooms website, I found this 'positive' review about the Omni, from a female european guest who stayed there. Hilarious - and sounds just my sort of place !! :-
€œWe stayed at Omni Tower for two nights in November. Even though the room and the hotel were ok, the location right next to the girl (prostitute) bars ruined the whole experience! The girls were everywhere, even inside our hotel walking around with 70-year old caucasian men! I was way too disgusted to truly enjoy our stay.
Also, it amazed us that there was no restaurant in the building. €¦€¦€¦. in order to have a nice meal we had to leave the hotel.
Unfortunately I can only recommend this hotel to those tourists or businessmen that are actually planning to rent a girl for a week or so."
I wonder what she'd have said if she'd spotted the ladyboys .........I usually stay at Dynasty Grande, but want a change for a few days. Any thoughts, guys?TT

Nice place, I know many people who stayed there and never had any problems (except for bad mobile phone reception).
I only stayed once a couple of years ago.

What about the Chateau De Bangkok In soi Rumrudee. studio rooms are nice and deluxe ones have a jacuzzi as well. Look at Accor Hotels.com for info about - I lived there when I first moved to Bangkok and its a nice place. neat little deli place in the lobby and the rooms have basic kitchens/microwaves etc. Certainly nicely kitted out rooms. 10b moto taxi to top of the soi and then your on Sukhumvit or you could walk it in couple minutes. Loads of nice restaurants in Soi Rumrudee and none of the tackiness of Soi 4.
Cheers

Hello TTChang,
I'd take her comments with a seriously large pinch of salt
They only have a few floors (maybe 2 or 3) which are short lets the rest are long term residents. I stayed there several times in the past and saw few other people around let alone 'girls being everywhere'
There is a restaurant in the lobby area. Opening hours were little restricted in the past and the menu and food were not much to write home about. This could have changed since I stayed there last. Breakfast was fine though and normally that's the only meal I eat in the hotel anyway.
Only thing against it was that the rooms were starting to look a bit tired last time I stayed.

wow, I hope Stogie see's this and adds in his 2 cents! he was just in my room last week which I had for 9 days and I always stay there, it's the best deal in Thailand for a room/suite that size [about 60-70 bucks with current exchange].
2 large rooms which is perfect because while the ladyboy sleeps you can be in the other rooom watching TV or vice versa, she can watch the tube in the living room while you work on PC in Bedroom [free broadband]
The beee-otch was correct about the lack of a good restaurant...... they have one {Lagoon Rest} and the breakfast is free and decent, but room service is weak for such a large place, that's true. No probs, you are on a street with food everywhere.
Great pool, good A/C, nice staff, never a problem bringing back guests, etc...... many many ATS photo shoots were done in this hotel from 2003-2004 including the Areeya shoots and Anney, Pang, etc...... in my opinion the best hotel for the price maybe anywhere in the world and I was trying to keep it a secret but TT Chang is a nice guy so there is my opinion
Get the large suite......56 meters..... not the 38 meter mini-suite
have fun!Guilt is Gods way of telling you you're having too much fun.

I 'm surprised anyone visiting Bangkok could be disappointed at 'having to leave their hotel for a nice meal'. As buttafly says: No probs, you are on a street with food everywhere

Hello TTChang,
Nearly forgot if you go to the Ascot Group website Ascot and become a 'member' you get a discount on the room rates.
Not sure how much they offer these days and you may still get a better deal via Asia travel Asia Travel or one of the other brokers.
