Tourism leaders call for a full opening up of the country as concerns emerge that Thailand is losing the initiative to regional competitors and will not achieve 10 million arrivals in 2022

Seems weird that they all wear face shields which are proven to less than useless against Covid. However it could be that indoor regulations in Thailand require some sort of face covering. So I suppose the shields are better than masks for a photo OP. However it makes tourists think that everyone in Thailand may look this way.
I also laugh at their pledge to keep tourists "Safe". Yet by "Safe" they only mean safe from Covid which is pretty shallow considering there is thousands of things more dangerous than covid in Thailand. STDs, HIV, Malaria, Zika, Bile Duct Cancer, Hepatitis, drunk driving, robbery, extortion, drugs, tap water, murder, police brutality, food poisoning, unsafe buses, boats, ferries, trains, roads, cars, motorbikes, sunburn, heat stroke, alcohol poisoning, drink poisoning, kidnapping, gangs, authoritarian regimes. I'm pretty sure all these things kill and injure more healthy tourists than Covid ever would. Most businesses never pledged to keep us "safe" in the past. Generally I don't actually expect most businesses to keep me safe from viruses, in the past I assessed my own risk when visiting other places.
