Recently visited Cha-am beach which is about 30 minute drive north of Hua Hin. Cha-am is a long stretch of beach with the nicest part right in the main town.
We were staying at the LPN Cha-am resort about a 10 minute drive to the main part of town. This beach is much quieter than Hua Hin with fewer hotels and restaurants and just less hectic in general. You will see many older tourists and Thai families here, there isn't a big farang party scene here.
There is still a number of ladyboys around town, just like everywhere in Thailand. As you come into town on the main Narathip road you will see many restaurants and drinking halls which are mainly geared to the Thai crowd. As you get onto the Beach Road there is more hotels and tourist geared establishments.
This beach is heavily frequented by Scandinavians and they seem to be the main foreigners in town.
We ate and drank at an area of restaurants right in front of the Long Beach Hotel. The Cha-am lodge and Steakhouse seemed to be the center of the action there.
The first night we went there, there was some kids doing a beat box show. Later that week we went there and discovered a huge ladyboy show going on.
Apparently this was a special occasion for someone's birthday so not a regular ladyboy site. However we saw many ladies and ladyboys frequenting this area every night as this was a main farang hotspot. Got a few pictures of the show and ladyboys.
