(moe666 @ Dec. 17 2007,17:25) I really don't care what they do to the airplane, they have always treated me great. Changed flights 3 times in one day and no charge.I have enough miles always up grade to business.
this may be a bit but since you mention 'upgrading'...
do you find it cost-effective to buy an economy class seat and use miles to upgrade to business, rather than simply buy business and let the miles accumulate til you get a free business seat?
for reference, i flew roundtrip lax-bkk 5 times and my next one is free (with miles).
which i guess means i'm eventually getting about 16% off the price of their biz class. i tried to figure out the costs and miles thru their online site to do it your way, but truth is, i got lost and their website in my opinion simply sucks (crashes, misdirects, non-linkage, occasionally incomprehensible in english, etc.)
thanks in advance if you've actually pondered this.

(PogueMahone @ Dec. 18 2007,07:05) Economy Deluxe Class, rows 24, 25,and 26 had only two seats side by side and you never had to worry about someone stepping over you to go to the toilet. .
Its called Elite class now and all EVA s have the same seating plan. All premium Econ/Elite are two seats wide but you cant step over someone when the seats are reclined unless you have hydrolic stilt leg implants

The Old De Luxe class was ten times better but the new plane refit is crap. much less room.

The problem is also that EVA heavily overbook at New Year time and its always short straw time at check in for someone.

Well fortunately not ALL Eva's have this seating plan yet. They still fly the 747-Combi's from SFO. Here's the seating plan for this bird and you can see that rows 24 and 25 offer a pair of seats both of which are aisle seats:

Just been on the re-furbished 747-400 in economy. Good, clean plane with same entertainment system as the 777, also decent legroom (33"/34"). Would recommend as a good choice on the LHR/BKK route.

Just booked an EVA flight for December 08. Price risen by around 25% on Elite Class.... Also i hear the Govt in UK are debating whether to slap a massive tax on air travel in November...

just spoke to a customer rep yesterday at EVA, I inquired about an upgrade, and the lovely young thing
asked when I was travelling, (from the US,) and when I said mid april, she said hold off, a new listing of bargain sales was going to be offered in early to mid february covering my dates, hoping they apply to LHR as well
Life is short. Live it well.

mmmm..exactly what i thought Billy, sounds like Pink Panther has just had a Lobotomy .

As i said earlier i forward booked 11 months in advance and got clobberd with a 25% hike plus any Govt tax increase ( this will happen, i put money on it). Last year i paid around a £1000 for elite class in December with all the taxs and stuff.., this year they want 1250 + any Govt tax hike  for same December 2008 flight.

Any other guys been hit with new EVA prices, maybe the hikes only invoked after a certain date. Some Economist said last week that cheap air travel is coming to a close in the next few years and it seems that many, in the press, agree . We will have to see

At least they had the decency to upgrade me on the last flight, seat 8C, like a small bed..

PS i assume that the increases will happen across all categories, i know EVA have about 4, Econ, Elite, Premium, Premium laurel etc etc

For £1250 you can fly business with most of the Arabian Airlines. I know its not direct, but WTF?

What you are forgetting is that in the next budget the Govt is going to fuck air travellers by way of a huge tax or restrictions of some kind. A personel flying tax has been muted ....its very likely  . When they can sniff a tax opportunity you know its coming.

Booze, fags and now Air travel will be part of budget  gloom for the forseeable future..IMO

I bought a single out 2 years ago, now i buy Bkk- Man- Bkk from a thai travel agent. The "return" part of the ticket, ie Man-Bkk is a 6 month open so I can change the date once i decide when to go.

You cannot buy a ticket that starts in the UK from anywhere else in the world. The ticket has to start in Los to be bought there.
