  • Not anymore 500baht when you fly out.

Until now all of us had to pay 500baht airport tax when
we fly out from bkk.Not anymore...dont ask me why but
maybe now they finish building the new airport they thought that they made enough money all these years.
Or maybe they put the 500baht on the price of the ticket. But at least we dont need to save 500 baht to use it at the airport.
    Good news.

      Yes! Bastards
I realized the taxes we are paying now on airline tickets have become ridiculous

Stogie is right. Some tickets don't include it, and you must pay 700 at check-in. It's to pay for the cracks in the runways.

Stogie they put the 700baht on the ticket you buy at thailand not at the ticket you buy at home(usa, europe, australia, etc)The price of the tickets in europe are still the same like it was 5 months ago,let alone the special tickets thai has for november for 500euros (fix dates.....until february)athens-bkk return).I can tell you for sure that the 700baht( 15euros)
are not on the ticket of thai from athens to bkk.
In about 20 minutes i can give you the prices of tickets
of airlines flying to bkk and also if the price changed up
15euros or whatever.Maybe i am wrong about usa, australia but not in europe. If i am wrong i am sure
              that somebody can correct me.

If the 700 Baht tax is not included in your ticket, then you will be asked to pay it in cash when you checkin to depart Thailand.

As of a few months ago all tickets should have had the 700B added, but tickets booked previously would not have included it (and you would pay at checkin ).

When I flew out last February I was told by my travel agent that my ticket didn€™t include the new tax and I would be asked to pay it when checking in however they never to ask me to pay it and I didn€™t ask why. I think there is a lot of confusion going on with knowing who should pay and who has paid€¦ this is Thailand!

Snick i was in bkk last month and the 700baht(15 euros)was not added on my ticket athens-bkk-athens.The price was 750euros which was the same i paid last
november incl. all the airport taxes in athens. When i left bkk last month for athens
i was not asked to pay any money at the check in. After the check in i was looking
for the 500baht machine and i was told that we dont have to pay the 500baht tax
                      anymore.

The 'airport tax' you pay is almost always included in the fare - though as Snick indicated sometimes the airline does state it in their ticketing/billing system.
Also as far as I know it is only paid on departures not arrivals - though I would not put it past a few places to charge inwards also.

What you don't see is that each airline pays a price per head (passenger) that uses the airport (that is in and out) and that is also in your ticket price.
I can't give you a figure for an airport, but for most UK ferry ports it's in the range of 1 - 1.5 GBP.

On top of that in the UK and many other countries the airline pays a fee for crossing airspace and using the air traffic control.

Plus many countries now have a carbon tax - 'allegedly' to be used to combat pollution.

In real terms the cost of airfares has gone down between 10 and 50% (depending on the route) over the last 20 years.

The taxes in the same time have probably doubled!

Well it seems to be working - most of the airports I have flown into in SE Asia have cracks in their runways!

Although compared with yesterday's news from Brasil perhaps not such bad ones after all. What a shocking waste of life

                              Same thing happened for me....

Def. 700 baht tax these days but they forgot to collect tax from me

departed thailand twice during my travels and only paid departure tax once, which was included on my tickets...

                              Love countries with slack procedures....

On the flip side... once in South korea, pricks would not let me onto plane and asked for another 10,000 won in taxes
                              - claimed taxes went up from time i prepaid them on my ticket~~

What can you do... they have u by the short and curlies....
