Few basic questions. Has the recent political situations been resolved? Reviewing the excellent information the site provides I saw references to 711 stores, Pizza Hut etc. Can I expect to find the same product lines in the Pizza Hut in Bangkok that I would find in San Diego?

Do they have electric lights in Thailand? Have they started using money or will I have to barter for everything?

They have electric lights in Thailand - but they sometimes forget to turn them on, especially at the end of the month when they are low on money.
For money they rely on white-skinned-big-nose foreigners, they are known locally as "ATMS"
Bringing toilet paper is NOT a bad idea...some places only have water hoses, or charge 2 Baht for paper.
They use western numerals for numbers, EXCEPT when they don't want tourists to know the 'local' price, then they use Thai numerals.
It is customary to stop at the top of an Escalator and let people bump into you.
Pizza is eaten with ketchup on top
Beer is drunk cold with Ice and thru a straw
Bugs are killed and sprayed OR stir fried and served as snacks
spaghetti is served with Chili Peppers
Not Spicy = Spicy
Little bit Spicy = Very Spicy
Spicy = ATOMIC
Traffic lights are meaningless and should be ignored by pedestrians (because the drivers do too)
