Don't use it straight away but keep it and activate it just before your credit lapses.  This will typically extend your time by another 2 months.

If it's enabled for international calls - yes you can.

The crazy bit is it was cheaper to call Thailand with a Thai card than it was to use a UK mobile.

Now I use a 1p/minute number which is cheaper again.

Don't have the phone/number anymore. I just steal Herself's phone when I want to call inside Thailand
