We are about to book our flights to Thailand. Flights were to BKk, but we heard from threads that Pattaya could be cheaper if on a budget. If it is too late to fligghts, how far in time/distance is Pattaya from BKK? If it is costly in time and money to get there from BKK is it a false saving or still worth it?

Bangkok is always worth checking out. Pattaya is approx. 1.5 hours by car.
IF u have never been to Thailand before, Bangkok is the logical place to begin your adventures then hop down to Pattaya for some further extra curricular activity and some serious mongering

The Pattaya savings is real.
If you are on a budget I suggest you go directly to Pattaya from the airport. The car service I use is only 1200 baht, with toll and a little tip figure 1500. So that's 750 each for you and your mate and you'll make that back the first night in Pattaya, 1000 baht longtime vs 2000 in Bangkok.
You'll want to stay in Bangkok the night before your flight to make sure you don't miss it and to check out the ladyboy bars.Comment

117 Baht on an a/c bus from Ekkamai BTS station. The buses run every half hour and take 2 hours.
A/C hotel rooms (clean and livable) from 500 Baht if you know where to go. Where I stay costs 750 (very good value)Comment

Save Bangkok until the last day or night of your holiday if you are on a budget and want to get the most bang for your buck. Either book a car and go directly to Pattaya, take a taxi to Ekamai Bust Station and hop on a bus and you are there, no problem. I would do a google search for hotels in Pattaya, you find many many sites with hotels listed in all price ranges. Look for places in Central pattaya or South Pattaya so you can just walk to the spots for LB action. You will have great action, great prices and a beach thrown in.Comment
