      Hello ChaosVirus,

To answer your last question first.   The biggest problem going in the summer is the airfares are higher.
As I said previously either book 60 days in advance to get the lowest rates or  - take a (big) chance and try for a late deal.

The other downside (maybe?) is the weather.  It depends where you come from  -  but June/July/Aug can be hot and July/Aug can be rainy.  Normally it's not that big a deal.
For a fairly good guide follow this link  Thai Wx
I'm used to UK weather so while I sometimes find the heat heavy going  -  the rain don't bother me!    Only thing is when it really rains - Sukumwit road can be under 2 feet of water in places.

      Hotels?
Allegedly the place not to miss  -  I have on purpose!  -  is the Nana Hotel.  NEP is a short stagger accross the road.
They recently built a new wing so from looking at their website http://www.nanahotel.co.th/html/index.html  I would guess the higher rates are in the new part.

Just round the corner is the Majestic Suites - about 3 minutes stagger!  http://www.majesticsuites.com/
The rooms are fairly small - with huge beds. Tends to be very popular so book early or miss out!  The front looks like a shop from the street - you eat in the shop window.

2 minutes stagger the other way is the Dynasty Inn  - NOT the Dynast Inn Grande though this is also close by.  http://www.dynastyinn.com/
The rooms are quite big but a bit tired.  Rates do not include breakfast - normally about 150-200 Baht.  The staff here a brilliant  -  in my experience some of the best in Thailand.

There are several small guest houses down Soi 4 which I have no experience of. Maybe someone else can help out there.

Patpong (KC3) is about 10 minutes ride on the BTS (Skytrain) - 40 Baht I think?  Taxi about 5-10 minutes and about 45-60 Baht.

Soi Cowboy one stop on the BTS - 10 Baht.  Taxi 35 Baht - the BTS closes at 11 pm - so it will be taxi back.

Do NOT change any money into Baht in your own country  -  even the airport rate in Thailand is better than outside the country - normally this matches the rate I get on my ATM card.
The rate at the money changes booths around Sukumwit is always about 1-2 Baht more per £/$/Euro/Aus$.

      Any more questions  -  ask

          Hello ChaosVirus,

Why have you purposely missed the Nana hotel? is there somthing bad about it
I don't think there is anything wrong with the hotel  -  I'ts just I always got the impression from what I read that there is a nightly precession in and out of the rooms.
I just didn't what the disturbance

          Also whats the BTS?
Bangkok Transit System.  Known also as the 'Skytrain' because its above the street on a sort of concrete viaduct.
There is also an newer underground sytem called the MRTA  -  this is less use to 'us' generally as it does not go anywhere we do.

Or also how far are these hotels from all the clubs?
Read my post above  -  it tells you exactly how far.  Here is a link to a map which may be clearer Nana map
NB North is down on this  -  I think it must have been done by an Australian

And how much would you recomend taking for the girls
As they say in Thailand  'up to you'.
In Bangkok ST  is about 1000-1500 Baht  -  LT 2000-2500 (some superstars will want 3000 and often get it)
The rest of you daily expenses could be as little as 500 Baht but most people would probably spend around 2-3000/day.

Oh I am from england as well =) Know any people that do good deals on flights?
Either try your local travel agents for cheap deals - not kidding! - my small local one is very good and can often match the internet.
          Normally I use internet sites - eBookers/Expedia/Flights4Less/Travelocity.
There are others but so far one of these four has come up cheapest.  Also try Kelkoo.
Watch out for the ones that add 2% if you use a credit card when you book.

            £415 for a flght

plus £616 money for girls and food going by your 3000 a day rule, if I hoped to stay for 2 weeks.

            Plus hotel O.O

            This could be expensive

=/ maybe a week will be better since I am a student

              Hello ChaosVirus,

Your biggest expense is the flight  -  the trick is to maximise your time/money after you get there.

£415 for the flight is a good price.  The best I've ever managed was about £395  -  £430/450 is the normal sort of figure.

              OK - plan B

There is a bus from the airport into the city - it has airconditioning 100 Baht.

You can save at least 500/day on the hotel bill by going for a guest house on Soi 4.  Or alternatively a hotel away from Nana.  Remember the taxis are 35 Baht (50p) for the first 3km.
(It only costs 250 Baht (£2.70) to go all the way across Bangkok a city the size of London!)

Avoid buying beers in the gogo bars and other tourist traps 110 Baht - 50-80 Baht elsewhere.  'Lady' drinks are 110 Baht each - save lots of money and don't buy any!

Food - 'Herself' and I often eat on the street for 30-40 Baht for the two of us  -  OK I know not everyone's taste - but despite what some think it tastes good and I have never ever got sick from this.
But! - make sure any meat is cooked there and then. For those that only like UK/US food there are plenty of places (away from the hotels) which serve good food at Thai prices not UK/US!

The prices for the girls I am afraid are fixed

              Plan C

Go to Pattaya!   I have little experience of this place so can only comment generally  (Help from from the Pattaya clientel please!)

Getting there  -  the bus takes about 2 hours from Ekamai bus station and the fare was 90 Baht recently.
They run every 30 minutes  -  don't bother trying to book  -  from comments I've seen you may not get through on the phone anyway.
You can get a taxi/private hire for about 1000 Baht.

Hotels are cheaper than Bangkok.  We stayed in a reasonable place for 500 Baht/night not too far from the Tiffany Cabaret.  Forget the name of it  -  but I can ask.
I'm sure others will have better recommendations anyway.

Beer is generally cheaper  -  I remember it was about 80 Baht on average.

Food should be cheaper  -  but we only stayed one night and we eat in the hotel restaurant.

The girls can be got normally for the lower rates - ie. 1000 Baht ST and 2000LT.   In fact if you really are a 'handsum mann'  you have a better chance of getting freebies here than in Bangkok.

Anyone of you lot out there come up with plan D?

My kids Grandmother, they all call "Nana", (my ex's mother), so the first time I stayed in Nana, Bkk , I bought all the monogramed towels, glasses, everything that had "Nana" on it. When I got back I gave them to her and told her they were from the most famous hotel in Bkk. She keeps them hanging in the bathrooms because the kids get a kick out of them, but it's impossiible for me to keep a straight face when I see them, and my sister in law is sure there's something dubious about, and I'm waiting for the day somebody in the know clues her in, and she stabs me with the fireplace tools.

Up is always North mate even in Australia.

From my calculations £616 for 14 days is about $108 AUD a day as you say for girls and food. This equates to roughly 3000THB a day so I hope this does not include accommodation?

Personally I do not consider myself a big spender but can spend up to 4-5THB a day excluding accommodation. The amount you spend however depends upon many factors and you could easily get away with less. However less than 3000 THB per day if this includes accommodation then is just not worth it if you ask me.
