I'd appreciate it if anyone can give any info about Scube diving while in LOS.

Any info would be appreciated. More detailed dive reports (where, when, how much, cost, what'd you see) would be awesome.

Diving off Phuket is good, IMHO better than in the gulf. For day trips Phuket and Pi Pi are very nice. Similan Islands is also doable as a day trip and worth it. I have not done any live aboards but plan to some day.

As for LB - I paid for scuba courses once, she complained about her ears and never finished. Wouldn't be suprised if she ended up splitting the fee with the instructor (cynical me).

I tried diving in Phuket but didn't enjoy much, when compared to Philippines. They grouped people from different places and you have to wait here and there for latecomers, then travelling quite a while cramped into a sort of jeepney to the south end of the island. Then take a boat..maybe change to another boat..hmmm..bit too much of the shaking around for my tastes. Also, I'm seasick and long boat trip don't do me any good
Also, visibility was quite poor in October and strong currents too.
I just enjoyed the stop-over at a small secluded beach in one of those tiny island at the south of Phuket. There was really paradise, but rest was so so. Prices more or less in line with all other asian scuba places.

As for the splitting fee of your LB friend with the instructor..hmmff..THAT reminds me about a chinese pretty bitchy lady I met in HKG. I bough her a dress and she then went to exchange it back for the original money I paid for.

Why are you asking us when there are probably dozens of websites that can give you far better qualified info than a bunch of lb perverts!!

You could make up athread about these scams. I bought a large teddy bear for a LB in Patpong and she returned it the next day for a 50-50. It almost brings a tear to the eye

I've been in the Philippines and Thailand.

I would pick Thailand any day. I've done a 7 day Similan Islands trip, it was very good. I've dived over 150 dives or so in most parts of the world, and I'd say the Similan trip was similar to Caribbean trips (like the Cayman's).

Your fist decision is day trips or liveaboards of course. Phuket is good because there is a good selection of both. For liveaboard, go to the Similans. For day trips, there are a few that go around Koh Phi Phi that are good, but a wide selection. All are reasonably priced, cheaper than the Caribbean.

For LB, well, I'd suggest a day trip first of course. If your fellow divers on a liveaboard felt uncomfortable, or she did, it would be misery with no way to turn back. I did take a LB on a Phi Phi day trip, and it was a great time for both of us. The foreigners didn't know, and the Thais didn't care. She had fun, I did, nothing wrong at all.

diving in phuket is in the top 10 in the world many places to dive i was a dive master there for 2 yrs
shark point very good and easy dive phi phi very good as for taking a lb on a boat goodluck as the boats laeve about 9.00 am latest and most thais cannot swim hate the water and the sun
and most of all wouldnt like to be put in a position were she cannot go if she didnt like it

done some work with scuba cat in patong very good company dont think that they would like a lb on the boat tho as can have lots of japs and germans on there trips

I went diving from Ko Lak with an outfit called Kon Tiki (if memory serves). It was a day trip to the Similan Islands, the first time I ever went diving and an absolutely incredible experience.

The ONLY reason to dive in Pattaya is if u need pics to document your innocent fun in Thialand. Otherwise stay south and you will find decent diving. NO PI but adequate. And Stewart if correct.... WTF are u asking a bunch of ladyboy hounds about dive adivce! LOL
