General cost for a noob

From fishing through the travel section and a quick hit to Expedia, I'm trying to get a general cost guideline. I added $1230.00 US for the cheapest Expedia flight and hotel combo, plus someone's guess of about $120.00 a day all told (times 5 days).

So would you experienced guys says $1800 to $2000 would be about right for a five day trip?

There is a lot of scattered info in travel. If anyone can give a breif (or point me to) a quick overview "how to" and price estimate, that would be super awesome.

Forget about the flight/hotel combo. u want to make sure your hotel is girl friendly. book the flight then worry about the hotel. hotels are dirt cheap.

also after checking expedia/orbitz/travelocity and the airline websites that show the lowest fares from the big 3 travel sites, then call up a few travel agents that specialize in thailand.

If you can get the time just get the cheapest flight possible and go to the Nana Plaza hotel. (It's about $25 a night.)

($845 is the cheapest flight I have seen from the US plus taxes etc.)

A budget conscious traveller can get laid and fed for 5,000 Baht a day.

So then maybe:
$845.00 flight
+ $125.00 room
+ $600.00 daily expenses

= maybe $1500 to $1600 for the whole trip?

why not leave on a friday night and return on a sunday? if at all possible, stay more days.
