Good question...
Sois, Moos, Tambons, Amphurs, Chiangwats... How does this system work?
Well, actually it's all very logical, really. Let's start at the front door of a typical Thai house.
Outside most Thai houses is a Soi (lane) or a Thanon (road).
If the address is 187/7 Singharaj Soi 3. This translates to (Lot) 187, (House) 7.
Sometimes this is followed by a Moo, or a Neighbourhood; e.g., Moo 4 or Neighbourhood 4, which in turn is part of a Tambon, or Sub-District; e.g., Tambon Bang Na or Bang Na Sub-District.
Amphurs are basically Districts, and Chiangwats are Provinces.
