Hey guys after reading about the infectious disease in Chaing Mai we decided to go somewhere else. But where? taking my GG girlfriend and we are going to BKK for a few days then off somewhere else (other than Pattaya of course). any suggestions?

How long are you here for is the first question? Me and the missus found we were bored in Koh Chang after a few days as she doesnt swim and I dont lie in the sun and AsiaBooks doesnt exist there.

Hua Hin is probably fine for 3-5 days.
Koh Samui and Islands is the best professional tourist set up I have seen in LOS for tourists without being a big overboard theme park.
Phuket (the south and north) are lovely, but Patong has been overrun buy the worst of young Aussie, Pom, Russian etc tourists, too much testosterone mixed with alcohol for me.
What about Krabi? Really pretty, charming, and not an island. I like it a lot there.

"Infectious diseases" in ChangMai should not have put you off. What about these in other places? Just take basic precautions. Go even further North and check out the magnificent scenery. Presuming you don't want to hang in bars. Eat where local people with children are eating. NO parent would knowingly take their kid somewhere if they thought they would get sick.

I agree Torurot but after i showed my gg the article about Myocartis in CM she said why take any risk for a vacation. Might just stay in BKK the whole week. Plenty to do there

I like to get out of Bangkok. Rent a car with driver and take a ride to Ayyuthaya, Lop Buri.... There is also a nice royal palace somewhere on the way, but can't remember where.

One of the advantages of BKK is that if you are here with a GF, it is easy to say you are headed for a 2 hour foot massage but then you just go for a 2-hour oily at Tulip, blowjob at looleetaa, soapy at Poseidon, ST with a LB at NEP, or late afternoon session with a Guess Bar girl. So you could do a 2-hour foot massage every day and not ever enter a foot massage shop.

OK on a serious note:
Catch the sky train to the boat quay located near the Sheraton on the Chao Phraya river. But a ticket on the Chao Phraya tourist express.
Take the boat to Wat Po and go and see the reclining buddha. Then catch a tuk tuk and go to the Emerald Buddha and the Grand Palace. (Note dress reguations apply. Long pants and covered shoulders for both sexes) . Do the tour of the both.
By then the Missus will be exhausted. Take her to the hotel slip out for a foot massage, see post of EM above....
By the time you get back she will be rested and you can do your nocturnal activities. Of note, have taken my 50 year old GG cousin to Guess Bar and she thoroughly enjoyed it. I think most women are intrigued.

Day two: recover from Day 1. Take motorbike taxis to MBK and Pantip Plaza. I say take motorbike taxis cos what should be a 5 minute drive from Nana can take an hour in a regular taxi. And I can guarantee any hangover will be fogotten if you get the right motorbike jockey and if he has just had his breakfast of 2 x yaba and a Birdie.

I only use motorbike taxis to get around Bangkok. They are fast, cheap & fun. And if the roads are blocked, there's always the footpath...      

In regards to their questionable breakfast as mentioned by Foxxee, I always have a little chat first before I engage their services.

That gives me a chance to look at their eyes. If they are bloodshot with dilated pupils (or if they have a bad attitude), I move to the next taxi rank.
