Dunno any posh restaurants - there are 3 very good ordinary restaurants in soi 8 Nimmanheimin - by Hillside condo. One is Burmese, two Thai. Excellent food, but you won't impress anyone with these venues.
Buy real Thai food, ready cooked, in Thanin market, & eat at home. Worth a visit to see the variety of foods on display. Unless you read Thai it's difficult to get much idea of what's available in a restaurant. Seeing it all on display is interesting, and it's REAL Thai food, as eaten by Thai people.
On the left, halfway up Chang Puak road, between the moat & the Superhighway. You may need to ask for 'talaat', as it's down any one of a few sidestreets. Turn left before, or opposite Muandamprakot road.
For fruit, visit the fruit market - a NIGHT market, near the American embassy. Open all night. See, & yry, fruits that you have never seen before, even if you have tried lots.
