Need info on Chiang Mai...

hey guys. I am planning a trip to CM in April. any recommendations for real nice over the top properties that are affordable? taking my spouse and need something really nice. can be small etc but good location and really nice. will spend about 6000 Bhat a night max. thanks

I'm sure you will find something excellent for half that amount.
and with the other half you could do six ST a day

thanks guys but I need a great nice 4 or 5 star hotel--not a ladyboy related trip. how is the Mandarin Oriental? any other suggestions?

You won't find many BMs who use 5 star hotels in Chiang Mai. Try Agoda, and have it arrange the hotels according to star rating.

For upscale, The Chedi. It's gorgeous. Out of my price range.
I stayed at D2 and liked it. Small rooms but nice hotel.
Will stay someplace simpler and less expensive next time.

Have a look at the Shangri-La Hotel;

It's virtually brand new and you can't beat the location, assuming you want to be right near the night market & restaurants, etc.
