Can I bring in wine from USA to LOS?

I have been detained. Not body searched or x-rayed but stopped as I was leaving Swampy's baggage area. I do not know why but I made eye contact with one Customs guy and that was it. He waved me over and did a quick look through my backpack and luggage. I was a little nervous because I had approximately 100 condoms (I was optimistic), 3 large tubes of KY (here again, somewhat optimistic) a butt plug; 2 dildos; a bikini shaver; 12 new pairs of girl's cotton panties (size small) and 5 porno DVD's. None of these items were really packed to hide or conceal them. In other words they were there for someone to easily see. As he went through my bags I kept looking at his face to see if any of the items aroused any further interest or curiosity in me. Nope. He smiled and let me go on my way. Whew...at that point wine would have been the least of my worries...

i bring in at a time and always declare them. never been charged duty. flash them a biz card and say they are samples!

(Steff @ Aug. 06 2010,00:55) The wine store across from Nana is on the corner of Sukhumvit and Soi 4 in the mall. It seems to have weird hours. Open at 10 to 2pm; closed 2 to 4pm and open again at 4 until 6pm I believe.  

Apparently that's the law in Thailand it applies to supermarkets and 7/11's also .

The reason given to me was late afternoon is the time when school kids might use the shops .

They are not going to be interested even if they do see them.
If they do just say they are a gift for your friends  -  it's their favourite wine and they can't get it in Thailand.

The worst thing the customs will do is take them off you.  The level of fine would not be worth the paperwork.

..you shouldn't have any problem going thru customs; last time thru BKK i had 3 pieces of luggage & 1 big box that could supply a small gang with arms & ammo & it was never searched.. (on my way to the Phil with Xmas stuff) .. they must hav some way of screening the larger pieces of luggage for drugs or weapons before it gets to the claim area but I'm just guessing.. never had my luggage searched going in to Thailand or the Phil, but leaving the Phil one custom official was curious as to why i had so much camera gear & what i was taking pics & video of?!
