You know sometimes when you attempt to save a few bucks, it ends up costing you dearly. IF you want to fly a cheap airline/fare to, say, LAX then switch airlines to get to Asia-be forewarned. If you do that, make CERTAIN you have a huge time cushion. You have to switch terminals, you might have delays. I am not sure what they would do if you missed the flight to Asia coz you were late. Be aware people!!!

I see it all the time. people buy cheap-o tickets on the net and it ends up COSTING them money and or time. Example, I see this ALL THE TIME, people want to fly from Chicago to lets say Syracuse. Instead of flying a str8 shot ORD-SYR, they save $33.95 and do ORD-LAGUARDIA (NEW YORK)-SYR. That is madness. And they buy the tickets ORD-LGA on UNited and have to go from LGA-SYR on US Airways Express!!!! AND they have a 90 minute connection time!! Anyone on the biz, knows this is just plain stupid a) LGA is prone to MASSIVE delays usually due to weather and/of flow control and airlines are NOT responsible for these contigences b) They have to schlep from the main terminal to the US Airways terminal its a bus ride and THEN you have to go thru security AGAIN!!!! Yeah thats just what I want to do when I am trying to beat the clock!!! NOT!!!!!

I see this a lot as well: Someone wants to go from Chicago to say LA or Orange County. Well, we have non stops. NO< NO NO in order to save a few bucks (or they are using miles thats another story) they go from Chicago to Kansas City to Denver to LA. No kidding!! And they get shcoked when its summertime, theres a huge line of thunderstroms, and they miss one of their 67 connections!!! YCMIU!!!!!!

Now I am not saying anyone on here would do something so daft but beware!!!
    Be careful out there!

I totally agree. I always fly the same airline for the whole trip incase there's a connecting flight because then if there's a delay, they intentionally delay the connecting flight sometimes or put you another flight since its their fault.

Maybe I sound insensitive but its not the case at all. I do care!  But if I had to live my whole life based on how everyone might be sensitive to me.. I would not be living my life as I want it. So you can accept me and my flaws as I am or you can't.

Convenience is the main thing for me when making flight arrangements, as well as faithfulness, lol, to certain carriers, I want to arrive in BKK feeling like a normal human being not as if I've just been taken out of "stasis", (trekkies take note), ergo, for me it's flying from USA to London, arrive in morning, go to sleep, and fly out the same night, non-stop to BKK, it does cost a few extra bucks, but hey, they're still not putting pockets in caskets either.
Life is short. Live it well.

(TEXASMAC @ Jun. 30 2010,03:43) Anybody fly Quatar?
When I used to work in Doha, I used Qatar Airways to fly to BKK on occasion. Excellent airline - new planes, very good in-flight entertainment built into the seats even in economy.

Service is good, better than North American/European airlines, but not quite as good as Singapore Airlines (whom I feel is no. 1) or Emirates (a close 2nd).

About the only drawback is transit at Doha Airport - while new, not exactly one of the best airports around.

(JaiDee @ Jun. 14 2010,21:31) TexasMac .....one thing I will recommend if you are planning more and more trips to Thailand in the future is to stick with one airline

TXMAC, I went through the same ticket search bs you and hundreds of our horny brethren have been forced to wade through. These ticket prices suck!

After a few years of bumping around in economy seats on China Air (not great) and Delta (less than not great), I started flying EVA in 2006.
By a twist of fate I was bumped up to their Elite/Deluxe class on my first flight from San Francisco and have stuck with them ever since.

Anyway, their little ploy worked and I've been purchasing EVA Elite/Deluxe seats ever since.
But, seeing the writing on the wall, I just bought a $1,760  Elite/Deluxe ticket for an October swing through Thailand.
The first Elite/Deluxe ticket I bought way back when was under $1,000, and in April 2010 I paid $1450 for the exact same seat.

However, my willingness to stick with one good airline has paid off in the form of an upgrade I earned. I'm not happy about spending $1,760, but by using a little twisted logic I actually don't feel ripped off about paying so much because I converted EVA frequent flyer miles into an upgrade and will now be recling in a roundtrip Business class seat. That ticket would have cost over $4,000.

4 G's would buy a helluva lot of BBQ at the Salt Lick!
                     Happy 4th of July TEXASMAC!

I can't understand why so many BM's piss and moan about a $200, $500 etc difference in ticket prices...you can't ALWAYS expect to get a "LOW" f***ing price!!!! You're going to the land of hookers with the final mission to spend frivolously blowing your load on (or in) your catch of the day...

Are you thinking of the airline ticket prices when you get your LB or GG back to room for debauchery....NO!!! Do you think of United Airlines or China Airlines prices when you're blowing spunk in her hair and ear?? Uh...no.

If you're strung out, that far on cash--worried about a few hundred dollars, then you better save more money, work at Burger King for a few months (part or full time), then go to Thailand at a better time. Budgets are useless in the LOS...and so are tickets--you just gotta be street smart and get lucky, otherwise expect to spend some cash.

Hey, I'm a cheap charlie too...I still fly business or first--stay in nice hotels...but never get broken hearted over a few hundred dollars...damn!

Here I sit broken hearted, tried to shit but only farted. I am not worthy until I have at least 1,000 posts to my name on the LB Forum.

I will spend good in LOS, nice hotels, LB;s, food and drinks. For some darn reason I just hate giving money to the airlines. LB;s yes, Hotels yes, just not the plane. Irrational yes. But as that great TV star says " I yam waht I yam".
