  • The RED SHIRT Crisis in Bangkok!

ok... umm... my flight back home is scheduled for the 26th Feb.

Same day as the supreme court ruling over Toxin's 2 Billion USD assets...

All this hype around the Red Army starts to worry me.
The last time they stages something like that, it was the PAD, and they blocked off Suvarnapoom and I had to leave on foot to Cambodia over the bridge at Poi Pet...

Are there any BMs with connections to Isaan who can comment on the materiality of such a "Red Army" ??

Are they likely to block off Suvarnapoom again?

Is this likely to occur before or after the 26 verdict?

For some reason, the major troubles in BKK invariably happen when I'm in the UK ... Yellow: airport closure, Red: revolt on the street.

I'm away from Feb 18. And on reading the Bangkok Post last week, i think i've got my timing right again.  I just light the blue touch paper, and leave it to Snick to stir up the forces of evil

If the Reds close the airport, tourism (and investment) in Thailand is finished.  In fact, this time 'they' won't let it happen IMO.  But I'm sure TS is getting desperate, and I wouldn't put anything past him - to achieve his heroic (?) return to LOS.

I'd be a little more relaxed if I knew Navy Commandos had been posted at Suvarnapoom...

Hiding in the swamp, no doubt! Not needed - the 5 security staff have been told to be a little more assertive next time

It was the yellows that closed Swampy.

I will echo that sentiment brother Spare Wheel , I would just love to phone my boss to tell him I will be spending another month in LOS due to civil disobedience , just keep putting the money in my bank account my good man !

No such luck though , I recall a military coup in 2006 just 2 days before I was due to fly home , didn't even hold up my flight .

Bloody Thais can't even riot properly , in Ireland we would have stretched that out for a full summer

                          Warming up ....

                          BANGKOK POST FRONT PAGE TODAY:

Troops take up position at key city locations
Soldiers in Bangkok have been put on a high Level 3 alert after weekend bomb scares set nerves jangling ahead of next week€™s Supreme Court decision on the Shinawatra family assets.

Scores of checkpoints were set up in sensitive parts of the city last night and special police patrols were launched after the country€™s top security officials met urgently yesterday to review the weekend€™s incidents.

In other provinces, security authorities were ordered to step up measures to maintain law and order as more rallies to support ousted prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra were expected

As usual ... all normal here in Sukhumvit

Pictures of the Thaksin rally I stumbled upon in Bangkok on Wednesday. They were supremely excited and very fired up. I was only thankful I wasn't accidentally wearing a yellow shirt.
