Anyone done Bangkok to Phuket via Bus?

Anyone ever bus it from BKK to Phuket? Have any good, bad or ugly stories about it (other than 12-14 hours in transit)?

I have never made the trip by bus but I remember Giorgio from the Tropica Hotel in Phuket telling me that he needed his 4 wheel drive to get through to Bangkok when it rained. Which is often in LOS.

I did do the trip by train once upon a time & it was fine. We dragged our backpacks onto 2nd class I think it was (maybe 3rd, it wasn't too flash) & had lots of conversations with the locals.

They couldn't understand me & I couldn't understand them but the hospitality was wonderful.

I ate something from the dining car & a few of us drank Singha well into the night.

That was before the owners of Singha had invested in modern plant & equipment & the alcohol rating of the beer was a crap shoot - you never knew what you were getting.

I remember it tasted fantastic but it had a kick like a mule. I slept well that night. And on awakening, I was looking at the outskirts of Bangkok.

The city from the window grew busier as we came closer but I remember we were in the suburbs for something like 2 hours.

So unless someone has had a great experience on the bus ride, I can recommend the train. You can move around & can meet the locals. Who knows? You might get lucky...

.... or you could take a cheap flight for $60 and be there in an hour.

My friend took the bus during the yellow shirt blockade of Bangkok airport. As expected he reported that it was a boring, cramped sleepless experience.
Every time I take the 2 hour bus ride from Bangkok to Pattaya, I purchase two seats side by side, I prefer that mode of transport to most taxi rides.

I like trains. But if traveling from Bangkok to Phuket, once you get off in Suathani then it's another 6 hours by bus.

I neglected to mention that my train ride was from KL...

I wondered how close the drop off point for Phuket was. I know we stopped somewhere during the night to pick up Phuket passengers but I thought it was a lot closer than 6 hours away.

I would like to take the train from KL to Bangkok on my next visit. The airfares on AirAsia are unbeatable these days & I would love to see how different things are today.

The train ride to Bangkok involves a change of train at Hat Yai, perfect to stop for a night or two.

One of the prettiest girls I ever met came from Hat Yai & last I heard, she was back there.

She's probably a mum with 3 kids by now...

I would have loved to but she wasn't P4P...

I took her & her work mates out on their day off for lunch by the beach & after a few beers, she was vulnerable...

A swim & a cuddle & the next thing she was running from the water...

I couldn't get out for an hour...

It was all so much more innocent in those days.

I've done Chumpon to Bangkok several times - "only" 8 hours and at the end of it, I was ready to kill someone. Unlike a train, you are effectively confined in your seat for the entire time, except for the pit stops every 3 to 4 hours; depending on where your seat is in relation to the TV screen, you either cannot get away from the films which are screened continously or cannot see it properly. If you are really lucky, you are in the seat underneath a speaker which gets really exciting when they are playing pop videos..... On my last trip, the bus caught fire which meant a welcome stop whilst they put it out and then replaced the offending piece of kit. I can't imagine what state I would be in if I was going to Bagkok to Phuket.

                      Go Air Asia.

I got a bus to Koh Samui before. I wouldnt advise it, but in saying that, its an experience.

If your on a long stay, sure why not get the bus or train. You will get to see alot more of Thailand then most of us here. But it will always take longer than advertised.

If your on a short stay your only going to lose fun time while stuck on a bus or train.
I know you still read here, checking my every post like the psychotic stalker that you are

I lay there in bed thinking to myself, am I gay and then Lusi rammed her cock in my mouth and I thought, who cares this is fantastic!!!

Its a long ass ride to phuket stuck on a Bus, done it once before and never again.... bus are usually over night so you don't get to see anything, hard to sleep but when you do eventually drop off the driver decides to stop the bus for everyone to take a piss and eat.... so you are back awake again.... you arrive tired and probably fighting off the urge to sleep most of the day and I've heard nightmare tales of bus drivers playing Issan music the whole way down... that would be enough to make a saint a sinner...

I have driven down a couple of time and the roads are very good now but

my advice is take one of the reasonable priced Air asia flights that run off peek times and get your self in a cosy bar with a hotty and cold one knowing some other poor soul is stuck on a bus....

I've taken the bus from Bkk to Yasothon many many times...About a 9 hour jaunt but seemed
to get shorter each trip...But not less boring...

On one memorable trip with my ladyboy friend, after a 30 minute stop in Korat for food and
a piss, we climbed back on the bus...After a few minutes, the bus interior lights were dimmed
and the blanket pulled up...She took may hand and placed it on her very hard cock and whispered,
                              "I wanta cum."

Not the worst way to spend a night on a bus...
