Tailors in Phuket

Hey Farang and Tally you both dont know anything about fine clothes. All of those tailors stink and are rip offs. I know you guys like wearing suits that dont cost more than $200 US so go ahead and use the tailors. I will forget more about fashion than both of you will ever learn

I set out that sartorial day with all the above places on the list.  As I was staying on Soi Paradise, Jaspal, just off Bangla,  happened to be the closest and first stop.  I stayed, and overall was quite pleased with my experience.  

I was greeted by Alex, a kind, soft-spoken Thai.  I name-dropped IB and Jaspal himself soon came in and introduced himself, and I was on my way to the highest-level discount.  If memory serves, 1900bt pants (cashmere), and I think 900 shirts (varied).  Jaspal even went so far as to invite me to some holiday event.  

I was pretty impressed with the craftsmanship, surprised at some of the details they copied.  NOTE: the best advice I received -- right here on this forum -- was to bring samples.  Made a huge difference -- amazing how they copied it.  I brought a casual jacket with me that I like very much, and now I have another.  

Because of the holiday season, they were closed for a few days.  I had a second fitting but wasn't able to pick up my clothes until about 3 hours before heading to the airport.  I had ordered 7 shirts, and all the collars were different than the style I chose.  They had all 7 shirts delivered to my hotel by the time I left.  They made a mistake, but they did what they needed to do to make up for it.  

I hope this is of some assistance.  Jaspal Tailors is really conveniently located, and a good shop.

PS -- And katoeyloverguy, if you're still around, I gleefully accept your challenge to a fashion-off.  I'll meet you anytime, and let a panel of ladyboys decide who wears it well.  Maybe you know a thing or two about suits, which I do not, but equating that with all fashion?  A mistake.  And I'd hazard to bet a defensive and presumptive agitator like yourself is actually not only quite insecure, but couldn't hold my jock strap when it comes to style.  See you on the catwalk, motherfucker!

how many times do I have to tell you guys that I dont want anyone buying suits from a tailor in Phuket anymore. Go to your department stores in the city you live and buy a nice suit off the rack

I cant reiterate anymore than I have about Pacman and Farnagbah buying suits from tailors in Phuket. Why do they have to spend time at these tailor places instead of buying suits in their home countries?

I visited Peach tailors yesterday. I have wanted to go there for years knowing its reputation. There was one salesman there, not the owner, who seemed much more interested in hooking me up with his "cousin" who was looking for a husband. Told me the woman was in Bangkok working in a beauty shop so I said "I'll be there next week, where's the shop?" Well actually, "she not in Bangkok right now, but give me your number and I have her meet you there"

I then asked about having a shirt made from a nice linen fabric and was told 5000 Baht. That seemed a little high to me, but the wife thing was so annoying, I couldn't begin to move forward on the shirt discussion.

I will stop in again before I leave. Maybe the owner will be there and we can have a sensible conversation.

   5000 baht "a little high"? Did this linen have gold thread through it? That's about $150US for a shirt.

I pay 850 for 100% cotton shirts in Silom Road & they are excellent. (Sorry katoeyloverguy but these are the nicest shirts I have owned)

Unless there is something spectacular about the linen thread, that price sounds very expensive to me.

Why the obsession on where Pacman and Farangbah buy their suits? Where do you think off the rack suits are made in your home country?

I can assure you that the vast majority of off the rack suits are made outside your home country, and certainly the materials are as well. If you want a suit that is made in your own country, you need to have it tailor made and it will cost several times more than an off the rack suit or one tailor made in Thailand.

Of course there are bad tailors in LOS, but there are good ones as well. Your obsession on this seems quite odd.

I think that my sarcasm got lost in my writing.  In any case I would certainly pay well over 1000B for a well made shirt.  I have not had good luck so far with my 1K shirts.
