  • Getting from central Pattaya to Naklua...

Next time I'm in Patts I want to try out the bars in Naklua, but I wonder about the baht bus routes.

I figured out the big carousel around Pattaya and the Jomtien routes, but never had the opportunity to try the Naklua route, if there is any.

So... what's the cheap & easy way to Naklua when stepping out of the PBR?

Get Rossco to pick you up & take you there...

At 1 Tiger beer every 20 minutes, he is cheaper & more comfortable than any Songtaew...
Despite the high cost of living, it continues to be popular.

      Ask the Baht Bus driver.

If from 2nd Road just ask "Naklua". In fact the walk from Dolphin Rotary (end of 2nd Road and Pattaya Nua) to Soi 29/1, in Naklua, is not that far and plenty of 'eye candy' en route.

Pacman (nice wind up but not informative) can probably guide you better...

I only visit Naklua on the way home and rarely take guys on tours - too much hassle for me. 10 Baht will take you there. 10 baht back.

      Bars open until 3.00am

Going back into Pattaya is no problem as most Baht Buses do the trip down Beach Road - ring the bell when you want to stop.

Naklua LB Bars - these are the major ones BUT, as with any bar in Pattaya, you can find some gems.

VIP bar complex on Naklua Road and Soi 29/1 has:
      Nice Bar - street side
Family Bar - 2 bars behind Nice Bar
Family Club - Air con bar 2 bars behind Family bar

Hopefully this is more useful info for you.

(rossco @ Nov. 14 2009,17:35) If from 2nd Road just ask "Naklua". In fact the walk from Dolphin Rotary (end of 2nd Road and Pattaya Nua) to Soi 29/1, in Naklua, is not that far and plenty of 'eye candy' en route.
Most bus drivers go up 2nd road, and at the dolphin roundabout turn around and head down beach road.
You can either tell the bus driver you want to go to Naklua, haggle the price, and pray he actually follows thru; or just get off at the Dolphin and walk the 4 blocks...enjoying the view.

Getting back is easier, almost any Baht bus driving past family bar is heading to Beach Road.

Snick's right, this is definitely the way to go. Dont bother haggling on the way up, from the round about it's four very easy blocks indeed to wander up. As suggested, when you've had a skinful or need to head back downtown there are plenty of Baht busses heading that way.

Either that or hire a bike and head up there a few times a night

Family Group has a number of venues

              Naklua:
              Family Bar
Family Club - A/C bar behind the main bar

              Other:
              Family Dance
              Family Best
              Family XXX

2 of these are in Soi 8 and the other in Soi 7

              Family House - 2nd Road/Soi 1

Family restaurant on 3rd Road between Driving range and South towards traffic lights

That is at 12th Nov 2009.

Naklua bars are easy walking distance of Dolphin Rotary.

                Thanks for all the info!

indeed I am not afraid to walk, so I'll use what is to be known as the "Snick Strategy".

Do not forget to have a look at Money Land Bar. It is rather new, located in the same complex as Familiy Bar. It is in the rear, near the service rooms.

Some new faces there, good atmosphere.

On my way to the toilet I noticed a bar chock full of ladyboys that I guess is Money Land.

If you go to Family bar you better like extremely loud music.

Perhaps the best place in that complex are the tables out front where it's somewhat quieter.  The bar in the very first row, but two columns to the south of the Family bar column had four lb's working.

I took you on that route and explained how you go about it before. Did you get drunk and forget?

hey sampler, good to see you on the board again - you took me on a great tour, but we went north only as far as soi 6!

first time I didn't last longer than Obsessions and second time I got lost somewhere at Sally's bar... :-))

Anyway, it was a great time!

(manarak @ Nov. 14 2009,17:19) So... what's the cheap & easy way to Naklua when stepping out of the PBR?
I would like to add some details which seemingly have been omitted:

First of all, you can in some cases rightfully be asked to pay 20 baht when you jump off at the roundabout.

I am informing BMs of this, so that no hot-head gets bent out of shape over being charged 10 baht "extra".

(It might be hard to believe, but about half of the roundabout is part of Naklua. At least as far as taxis are concerned. So if you get off on the Naklua-side of the roundabout, be prepared to pay the piper!)

(The reason I know the roundabout well enough, is that it is my transfer point to go to Tesco-Lotus etc.)

My missions of mercy, have also taken me the Naklua Bars. Fortunately, by some measures I am considered wealthy, therefore when I travel from Pattaya to Naklua, I can afford to pay 20 baht for the ride to the Naklua bars. (Or 10 baht if the taxi stops on the Pattaya side of the roundabout, and another 10 baht for the taxi to take me to the bars.)

Regarding my wealth: Since I travel cattle-class from Europe, nearly all of my working class Thai acquaintances, regard me as wealthy.
"I don´t know what to do. Losing sleep. Kicked from a chatroom on a board about worshipping young transsexual prostitutes.
I´ve my fair share of disapointments and hardtimes in my life, but this....."
