  • SMTP settings for Thailand Hotels

    If you are using a dedicated e-mail browser such as Microsoft Outlook, as opposed to webmail, you are going to require the hotel's SMTP settings in order to send outgoing mail.

    I've stayed at numerous hotels in Thailand over the years, however actually getting someone at reception or I.T to divulge the necessary information is near impossible.

    Was hoping someone may be able to provide the SMTP setting for The Dynasty Grande ?  I've asked many times, but nobody seems to know.

    Thought it may be useful to list a few other popular hotels too.

    Can certainly use webmail programs as a last resort, but it's always nice to use your usual e-mail browser.

    Cheers

    I know what you mean KK, I endured the same problem. Finally we had a server installed at our office and now have a network, even though there are only three of us. Now I get to my loom turn on the laptop open outlook sign in to the server and bingo.
    Have a word with that boss of yours, your place is big enough to justify a network. Mind you knowing him he'd make you the administrator, another 10 hours a week!!....maybe someone will know the DIG SMPT address.
    BTW I'm flying up to BKK this afternoon, but only there one night before going on to China, so I won't see you. I'm back in town next Wednesday, again just one night.
    Enjoy your trip

          if you have a gmail account, I think you can use them as outgoing smtp.
          BTW it might not be the hotel's fault, some ISPs in thailand block port 25 (smtp)

              most hotels I have stayed in allowed port 25.

              to avoid problems however, and since I control my own server, I setup a clone SMTP process to listen on port 26, which solved all problems so far.

              if everything fails, I can still use the webmail interface I installed.

                When I change the setting in the properties of the outlook email account (shown in first graphic below), it seemed to solve 99% of these problems you cite.

                However, the first time you send email, you get the screen shown in second graphic below, just click Ok and everything from then on goes through.

                Finally, I strongly suggest CC yourself on your email, just to make sure that it goes through. When traveling, occasionally I get email sent without any errors, but it never arrives to recipient.

                    26 is ok but 366 is now becoming the new standard SMTP port.

                      Stumbled upon the following information via a simple Google search;

                      Many Internet service providers in Thailand have a habit of blocking SMTP on port 25, meaning users are unable to send emails. There are a couple of fixes for this however. You can try using alternative ports, common ones being 587 and 2525.

                      If this fails, the only real alternative is to use the SMTP server provided by the ISP of the connection you are using and the most common ones are listed below.

                      TOT
                      smtp.totisp.net

                      Maxnet
                      smtp.tttmaxnet.com

                      True
                      mail.trueinternet.co.th

                      Loxinfo
                      mail.loxinfo.co.th

                      CAT
                      mail.cathinet.com

                      If you're in a hotel and you don't know who is providing the connection, just go to the following link and your ISP will be named: http://www.ip2location.com/

                      Established that Dynasty Grande are with "True", and mail.trueinternet.co.th appears to be working for me.

                      Cheers

                        One more piece of information for those that frequent the LK Renaissance in Pattaya;

                        SMTP server for outgoing mail is relay.cat.net.th
