At the Bank foreign exchange booths yes, however for most Thai businesses no. Some like the convenience of using ATMs however most Thai banks charge a 150 Baht foreign ATM card transaction fee - which is on top of the fee your bank may charge - plus whatever they skim on the exchange rate for the day.(Spitzbube @ Jun. 23 2009,18:28) Are traveler's checks treated the same as cash?
Travelers cheques have the advantage of having a better exchange rate than cash at the booths - however there is a stamp charge fee of 33 baht per cheque. It is best to get higher denomination cheques (500 $, Euro, etc) and is the best deal if you have a facility for no commission travelers cheques because of your bank account or credit card (some gold cards give this benefit).
