After a couple years enjoying your forum from the sidelines I am finally getting my opportunity to experience Thailand next weekend for a week. In addition than visiting as many of of your ladyboy establishments as possible I also wanted to get a custom made suit and some shirts made during the trip. I read an article somewhere about a famous tailoring shop in BKK called Raja's or Raha's? Great quality and a 3 or 4 day turn around? Any ideas where this is located and if it is the best option?

If you spot an old indian gentleman with perfect turban and moustache usually standing between soi 3 and soi 5 ask him and maybe if you are a lucky man that could be your lucky day, ahhhh and don't forget to ask him to tell you your name.
Is that the style you are looking for ?Attached FilesMy own belief is that there is hardly anyone whose sexual life, if it were broadcast, would not fill the world at large with surprise and horror. ~W. Somerset Maugham

I dont think thats the answer he was looking for.
The shop is called RAJAWONGSE and is located between Nana and the Landmark Hotel on Sukumvit, actualy about 100m from the corner Sukumvit and Nana. E-mail is: [email protected]. You can also try the internet search under RAJAWONGSE.
Allow at least 1 week fo a suit, shirts about 4 days. But you better know what you want in a suit.BETO

and finding a trustable, not pushy, honest tailor is even harder than finding a drug free, not lying ladyboy or a smart 7-11 clerk. My own belief is that there is hardly anyone whose sexual life, if it were broadcast, would not fill the world at large with surprise and horror. ~W. Somerset Maugham

that's rajawongse's website.
they are good and trustable.
they made suits for G Bush and GW bush and some other personalities.
once they've got you measured out, your measures stay in their book, and you can order stuff in advance.

I had some shirts and a suit made by Rajawongse and I was quite happy with the quality and the service. Another good tailor, but more expensive, is Narin. He is located on Sukumvit past Nana BTS station if you are walking from the Landmark hotel, but on the same side as The Landmark hotel.BETO

After my first fitting I was quite impressed.
It's all done in house.
I will have my second fitting when I return, so hopefully it will be a success.
Although more expensive, I prefer to pay the extra to have a better made suit with better material.
It's a Thai run business and I found they weren't pushy at all, like some of the Indian Tailors.

It all depends what quality you are looking for. I have had suits made back home in Europe for quite a while and the quality was always excellent. Of course the prices are quite higher.
I had a jacket and 2 pairs of trousers made by RAJAWONGSE back in 2005 and they were ok but nothing to write home about. The jacket fabric despite making it clear that I wanted pure wool still suffers from electric static and the pants do not feel as soft or cool woolish as in good old Europe - they feel rather scratchy.
I recently had a coat made in China where I live and made it very clear that I wanted the best material available. A few weeks into wearing it, the fabric started to pill on the surface. A similar coat made back home has lasted me for 10 years and only suffered from wear and tear.
It might be cheaper, but so is the material and the craftsmanship. Buttons come loose or seams open up, which I had never happen with stuff made by my European tailor.
I think that Bush story is pretty much bullshit or they just made a suit for him to promote their own business.
