In my opinion you really want to get here before you make your selection...
Make a list of possibles, book a room in the PBR for a couple of days and
      go scouting...

In my opinion, location here is very important and it is worth it to me to
spend a few more baht on a room with a convenient location than try to
get back to your room at 5 am when it is in some out of the way location...

And make no mistake, you will turn very quickly into a Pattaya Party Animal...
Party all night and sleep all day...It is the way of life here...

Kahuna would you say Pattaya bay resort is a good location for a "Pattaya party animal"?

In Pattaya for 10 nights from the 20/4/09. Only have to pay for 9 nights with there low season promo which is a pretty good deal.

Looked at the map on there website and its in greek to me. Dont know Pattaya at all and location would be very important.

Yep...A very good location...Close to Soi 13/1....Stringfellows and La Bamba...
an easy baht bus ride to Walking Street or north to Sois 8, 7 and 6 and beyond to Naklua...
and just around the corner from Pook Swan on Soi Bukhao...Plus a bunch of beer
bars with several girls nearby...Many BMs stay there...You won't go wrong...

          Cheers,

          Kahuna

I'm arriving pattaya the end of this month and will also take kahuna's sage advice to get a hotel room for a few nights and immediately check out every place mentioned here before i rent a place for the whole month of May. So far the LK long-stay offerings top my most-likely list: LK Mansions, LK Royal Suites, LK Pavilion -- but damned if i can make sight of the differences between 'em that make their rates vary by 10,000 baht!

This will be my fourth trip to pattaya and i know i want to stay between soi 6 and walking street and beach rd and 3rd road -- i enjoy a 10-minute walk, not to mention i signed a blood oath to stay off motor-bikes in thailand and will rarely be sober enough to drive.

If this bump draws any more suggestions for my walking tour, they'd be appreciated. Dinner to the winner?

              Thanks.

For my money, I think the Yensabai Condo is about as good a place as one could find in Pattaya for a long term stay. Considering quality for the price, location, etc.
It seems to be off the main tourist track, but not too far to walk to Pattaya Tai, (South Pattaya Rd), Walking Street or 2nd Road. Next to Sunee Plaza which is a plus to me. Their pool is excellent. Plenty of good places to eat inexpensively nearby. You can rent any one of many fully furnished rooms at any given time. 39 sq meters size for 12k a month

                http://www.apatpro.com/

Another good buy is Yensabai Mansion for 7200-7900 baht/month
                http://www.yensabaipattaya.com/aboutus.html#pricing
Not quite as fancy inside, and no balcony or pool. Although I know some who stay there will just walk over to the pool at Yensabai Condo and use it. The same people own the Condo as own the Mansion.
You can also rent condos at Yensabai Condo from this web site, but I like the ones that Patrice has at the apatpro web site, because they are better decorated inside and if one is going to stay a long time, may as well have a place that looks nice if possible
