Travelling from Phuket to Patts

Right, so with all the hisa in and around BKK, I finally decided this moring to cancel the whole thing. F!@#. Now need to wait 2-4 weeks to get my money back.

I am looking into last minute flights to Phuket. Q: besides a local flight, is it possible to take the train up to Pattaya? How long will this take? Would like to spend at least a weekend there...

Pls dont give me the 'use the search' reply here gents, I am near giving up on the whole thing so be gentle. Muchos gracias.

You would have to go from Phuket to Bangkok, then Bangkok to Pattaya.
Its a 12 hour bus ride from Phuket to Bangkok, and then 90 minutes to Pattaya.

first DUTCH if you can get to phuket then check to see if you can fly direct to UTAPAO(sattahip) airport,its just south of pattaya an ex us air force airport,but now commercial,i used it before to fly from pattaya to phuket,its quick about 1 hr,on small plane. airport is a short taxi ride to pattaya. id seriously try this first as going overland is a long way 13- 14 hrs! tho if you did do this you could plan in some stops along way,mayby such as hua hin its nice place to stop for day or two.then stay bkk for few days then pattaya. depends how long u got

good info DAVE i for one enjoyed the flight as well,being short haul and on a small plane so farly low level you fly across the gulf of thailand had a window seat ,so was great ,real nice looking down n across the gulf,islands etc,we stopped off at SAMUI to exchange some passengers etc then off again to PHUKET,all good experience for the time involved which is minimal,must admit tho when i pulled up at UTAPAO in taxi from PATTAYA there didnt seem to be hardly anybody about,first not a single car etc in sight...........i thought is this guy taking me down this track to meet some of his "nice" friends?..................it was a bit strange bear in mind this was my first time in LOS............but all was good...........

i hope dutch has had a look at the map youve posted DAVE and realised just how far you must travel by bus from phuket to pattaya, lota hours involved, 1st u gota get off the island....ferry....fine and good experience if youve time,but if no time then give it a miss, do it another time.

If you know thailand well enough , you could hire a car and drive . It has been done before

valid point GEO,tho i tell you personally when i leave the UK driving a car is one of the last things i wanna do,hiring a car in LOS where public transport is so easy cheap and readily available seems to lack logic.cost just as much to hire a car as the flight across the gulf.

Thanks for the info guys. Indeed not a good plan to anything other then catch a short haul plane. I've already lost 4 days of the trip anyway. Just booked a flight to Phuket via Hong Kong. Now looking into flight from Phuket to Pattaya, but may just book when I am there.

i would if i were you if your in phuket id suggest take a taxi to patong and stay there for a cpl days im sure youll love it there,fantastic beach(which pattaya does not have) and some great LB talent around, cocktails n dreams ,freelancers etc its cool would seem daft if there not to visit patong,many guys dont go there cause they too lazy to get off their ass an out pattaya..........but if you allready there.

then while in patong you can book flight with local tour operator.......easy peasy lemon sqeeezy.............opps that was another topic!

    If it's a short trip I'd just stay in Phuket.

Lots of ladyboys:

1) Cocktails and Dreams
2) Soi Crocodile
3) Paradise Complex (smallcabaret show dancers)

These places all within walking distance of each other.

And lots of gg too.

A much nicer place than Pattaya and I'm a Pattaya fan.
