This year it's going to be Pattaya

This year, well, I mean next year, or... damn, in 2009, I think I will visit Pattaya instead of Bangkok to satisfy my turpitude (I'll be on Turpiduty, so to speak).

I grew tired of Bangkok during my last stay in November, and also I don't like the theatrical performance put on by girls I have been with before whenever I enter their bar again and want to go with another girl or just want to enjoy the scenery.
Even I know their play is fake, it is difficult to enjoy the scenery and enjoy other girls while some are trying everything humanly possible to make one feel bad and at the same time the mamasan and mamasan assistants are trying to suck up to get some drinks.
Last time, I bought a drink for the new assistant mamasan Vivian, making an arrangement with her that if I buy her drink, she would stop to talk...

I like bars best when I enter the first time and the girls don't know me.
In BKK, there's only Obsessions and KC3 that are left.

Therefore, I think about planning a trip to Pattaya in mid-2009.
Or maybe Phuket - I really liked ChaCha when I was there...

Let's concentrate on Pattaya though.


I think I determined LK Renaissance as being my accomodation of choice.
(I like lower 4 Star standard such as in BKK the Adelphi, Majestic Grande... the DIG and Aspen Suites are more or less the lowest standard I am willing to book).

Being a webmaster, complementary (or priced-in) internet is important for me, as well as no joiner fees (also for 2 or more persons!!! GRRRRR @ DIG)

So quick question here:
is LK Renaissance the best choice or can I get the same for cheaper? (don't forget complementary hi-speed internet)


Then I wonder about transportation.
While I like to walk, most of my acquaintances don't.
The distance Guess Bar to Aspen Suites was a stretch for some.
So far, I've been only once to Pattaya, long enough to realize the bars are not located near each other, and streets are stuffed with trafic.
So I think about using a small bike (scooter?) to get around (I guess they are readily available everywhere for rent).
But what's your experience with the hotels? Will they accept my ladyboy-transporter in their garage?
What about the ladyboys? Do they like to ride (ahem...) the scooter's backseat?
Are there other things to think about (except getting a spare helmet, an additional chain and taking pics of all sides the scooter on the spot at the rental shop before driving away)?

And... is there a spot on the continental coast near Patts where the water quality is acceptable?

You can wait one more year, i heard that in 2010 in Pattaya you will find ladyboys and russian tourists only.

BTW, I read somewhere some hilarious post about telling touts "ja russki" or "I from russia" while rolling the R's will get them off you faster than Stogie can curse a newbie.

I don't find the need for a scooter due to the abundance of Baht Buses (10 baht) and motor bike taxi's (30 baht) Jontiem has nice beaches which is a 50 Baht ride away and a taxi to Rayon or boat to Kho Samet will strain your resources..........

Hotels.....up 2 u.....the LK is fairly central and a 5 minute walk to La Bamba, Stringfellows and if you turn left Pook Swanhouse and once you are in these establishments the rest are another 5 minutes away due to the traffic system and locale.......

I don't think you'll be disappointed and will soon get used to the surroundings and get your bearings.....

That´s a great idea. Gonna use that. But my teeth and manners are far too good to pass as a russkie.

If you like high end hotels then LK Renaissance is the cheapest option. It has a wow factor lacking at the lower price point hotels.

Nah, I didn't formulate it that way, I said because I am a webmaster, internet is important for me - I am likely to use it heavily. Also for uploading pics to this forum.

Not going to bring gravel to beach this time. It stings when walking.

Driving your own scooter around is NOT safer than riding on a motorbike taxi.

TTChang rode last trip on a motorbike taxi ... no tip!

yeah, but I have to be mobile somehow.
I don't like the motorbike taxis and I don't want to get stuck in the clogged streets while riding a taxi or bus.
But I think I have a healthy sense of risk (inspite of being a banker), so I guess I will give it a try and then maybe backout if I feel it is too risky.

Or maybe I'll only rent a scooter when I will drive around the villas on nong pla lai road and siam country club neighborhood.

The traffic around Pattaya is fairly fluid unlike BKK......see what you think when you get there.....
