I'm scheduled to leave for BKK 2 January. I have not made any change in my plans. I'm hoping this civil unrest will all be cleared up before I leave.
I have no back-up plans, although Bali sounds interesting.

Most of us here will still travel to Thailand by hook or by crook, I know I will.

Anyone who haven't been before will think twice after recent events though .

I waited until the end and just cancelled my Dec 2 flight. Will now wait a week, fly to Singapore (first time) and decide from there. Would most likely go to Phuket if at all to Thailand. Otherwise, probably Cambodia and then again a possible trip to Phuket.

Luckily I am booked for a long time on a TG flight from Germany for Dec. 12 that will be rerouted to Utapao. I will fly if there's no bloodshed and a good chance that BKK airport will be open again on Dec. 31, the date for my trip home.

I´ll have to look on the situation and will decide on a last minute basis. No big deal for me, because I can just go stay on the job and postpone my vacation.

Big deal for Thai people, they do not deserve a political class like these scumbags in Bangkok.

Cancelled my plans to visit in early January in case it messed up the rest of my trip to Asia. Will probably make it in March as long as political environment is OK.

Well the good news is that the price of airfares from Australia to Thailand has started to drop.

It looks as though people are starting to cancel flight plans and the cheap seats are starting to appear.

BANGKOK, Thailand (CNN) -- Thailand's Constitutional Court ordered the ruling People Power Party dissolved Tuesday for electoral fraud, banning Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat and more than 30 party officials from politics for five years.

The ruling follows months of opposition protests, including a week-old siege of Bangkok's international airport and sparked angry counter-protests by Somchai's supporters outside the court.

The court also banned at least one of the PPP's ruling coalition partners, effectively dismantling the government over allegations of vote-rigging.

There was no immediate reaction from Somchai or his party to the ruling.

I'm booked to leave on the 24th... protesters leave airport on 12/2, then 10 days to straighten the joint up, several weeks before another election could be organized... might still be able to slip past and squeeze one in.

Just heard on the news too that the protesters did not ransack the Duty Free shops and left everything alone, cant see that happening anywhere else but

Great timing in changing my flight to Singapore   - an hour before PAD announced the protest over at Suvarnabhumi.  But it may take quite a few days (a week +?) to get 'normal service' resumed.

On the other hand, This Is Thailand .....
