  • Good cooking school (authentic please!)

I'm looking for a good authentic (key word here) Thai cooking school in or around BKK. Ideally it would offer day-long classes (4-8 hours) or maybe a 2 to 3 day program. I'm just looking for something fun to do during one of the days I'm there with my friend. If anyone can recommend one, please do. If you have the website for it as well that would good too. I looked on Google and saw there's a few, but I'd like to hear from people who have been there (or know of ppl who have) to get their direct input. Thanks!

Search came up empty so I'm counting on you guys!

Sounds familiar, I probably read the post, but didn't come up when i searched for 'cook' in the titles. Anyhow, I'll take a look into it more so thanks for the suggestion. On a quick looksie its quite pricey! Yikes! Almost 3,000 per person for the day. I wonder if there are less expensive options...

Shame your not going to chiang mai, there is lots of good schools up that way!

Blue elephant is one of the only good ones in bkk, the expensive classes like the oriental are not handson, only demonstrations!
i'm going where the sun keeps shining.................

I started at a 1 day class at Mai Kai Dee's vegetarian restaurant. She's an excellent cook, and you really get a feel of how Thai ingredients should be handled. For around 1,000 baht (3 years ago) I learned several dishes in a day. Make sure you get there early for the shopping trip to the market! http://www.maykaidee.com/site/cooking-school

From there I went on to a couple more Xpensive classes and had a comfort level I would not have had otherwise.

Favorite = Phuket Thai Cookery School (another trip to the market). Best of both worlds: Stir fried pork w/ longbeans by day,    long-legged ladyboys all night.
