I remember our ol' friend Jellybean came over once for the weekend! (I recently heard from him, by the way and him and Kai are doing just fine.)

Personally, I try to think of things in terms of how much bang(kok) for the buck I'd be getting. So if I wasn't already living here I would have to say 10 days or thereabouts would be the shortest trip that I think I would consider.

A week goes by so fast and anything less than a week you may as well pay some ho based in London to tend to your needs and save a few hundred quid!

If money was NOT an object then I could quite happily come over to Bangkok for 3 nights at a time from Europe without thinking that it was a waste of money.

      It's a good question, though. I don't think we've had it before.

For the purpose of pleasure, with traveling time (including airport waiting time in-going and out-going) and the time difference, I believe you need a minimum of 6 nights.

Business travel (for me anyway) is different.
I have been from Paris to Sydney for one meeting and one night (and I kept on Paris time).
I've done London-New York-London many times for one meeting.

But I would never do such trips with brief stays for pleasure - because it ain't pleasurable!

72 hours minimum from Europe or Australia ,, 1 week minimum from the US is my 2 cents .

Did a 2 day trip for a birthday party back in '03
Took the knock about 2 hours in to the party and ended
up sleeping on the back seat of a car...never again!

I obviously don't travel from Europe, but can't imagine going for less than 2 weeks from the USA ( I actually prefer 2 months)...

Damn, 3-5 days would be over before I woke up...

I've done 3 trips from New York leaving at 11PM Friday and getting back the following Sunday thereby using as little vacation time as possible. From Europe that schedule is even more doable.

But some of those airfares were pretty cheap back then.

If airfare was free (not a free trip burning FF miles) and I wasn't burning vacation days I'd do it if I had only 48 hours in the LOS. Flight leaves Wednesday night before Thanksgiving and I land back at the airport on Sunday afternoon.

Every trip is never long enough

I always think the first 3 days are just a blur , so I would say 2 weeks minimum .

It would be nice to hop in a tardis or something and go over to Nana for a couple of short times one Saturday night , then wake up in your own bed Sunday morning
Free your mind and your ass will follow .

Voted for the 5-9 night option myself as I did a 6 nighter in Bangkok and Phuket a few years back and I would say a 9 nighter would be a pleasant break

I have done BKK on many times in 6 hours - i.e. landing and then going to my apt, changing suitcases and clothes, seeing my secretary for an hour (in the office unfortunately as she was so so hot) and then heading out back out to Don Muang for another Long flight to some god forsaken place all in the name of business development. Oh and I dont miss it one bit (except my old secretary........)

                              Cheers
