Leaches come off best with salt. Sprinkle it on, leaches off. No problem. 2nd class sleeper, no aircon. Very comfortable.

I like the trains and overnight sleeper, but the schedules can be really unreliable. Recently went from Hua Hin to Trang, scheduled arrival 8am. Got on around 10pm, went to sleep. When I woke up in the morning, we were still north of Chumphon, only about a third of the way to my destination. Finally reached Trang in mid-afternoon.

If you're making a connection, definitely take the bus.
