  • Gulf Air

By the end of September I'll be in LOS,this time I take Gulf Air. Flying from the continent to London and Bahrein. Departure in Bahrein 9.15, arrival in BKK 20.35. That doesn't seem normal to me, is there a glider in service for that stretch? I know there is a time difference but still it's bizarre.

Gulf Air is notorious for its delays, what can I expect from this "cheap" flight. Btw I payed 750 ‚¬.

The last time I was in BKK ,the new airport wasn't opened yet. Is it still possible to get a taxi at the departure level. How much will I be charged with a metered taxi to Nana? Is there something extra to be paid like use of the highway coming from Suvarnabhumi?

What about the metro line is it possible get from the airport to a sky train station? Just curious.

Flight timings look ok, Thailand is well ahead of Bahrain timewise, the flight takes 6 to 7 hours.

The only thing to watch out for is that on the return leg you may have a long layover in Bahrain.

If Gulf Air decide that it is long enough to give you a hotel, it will probably be one of the cheap 3 star hotels that work as brothels in Bahrain.

My experience was very bad, first we waited over an hour for a hotel bus to arrive, then they accommodated us in a dump called Concorde hotel, which is also a brothel.

It was a sure fire way to ensure that none of us ever used Gulf Air again, it's hard to understand the logic of this airline.

Maybe it's the ryan air treat them like cattle approach. But nobody can beat Ryan air prices, so they will get the business even if they piss everyone off.

For Gulf Air, it's worth it to pay a bit more to fly with another airline.

Enjoy your trip, hope you have a good experience.

Expect a new plane with decent service for London to Bahrain and the exact opposite for Bahrain - Bangkok. if you hvve a layover on the way back, get your hotel voucher from the service desk then get a taxi rather than waiting for the bus. 5 dinar will get you to the flops used by gulf.

Gulf Air are great. better than any rude indifferent Western airline.

Great food and great service... and they have pretty girls serving the nosh not the sour aged old cunts from the West.

I'm going back on the 2nd of Sept with Gulf too. I've heard a lot of good things about them, my question is; what is Bahrain airport like to spend a couple of hours in? Last time i stopped over in the middle east i got stung with 7 hours in Kuwait with fuck all to do at 5am at the worlds most boring airport.
Is Bahrain a bit better than that? I've only got 2 and half hours each way, is there a nice place to get a pint, i know it's unlikely in the middle east, or at best a nice cup of tea and, bits and bobs to keep me occupied til the connecting flight?

              It's a standard international airport.

Full duty free shopping, bars, including alcohol, coffee shops, burger shops, restaurants.

Flight Lounges, plus one you can pay to use.

2.5 hours, no problem, by the time you shop around, have a pint and a burger, it will be time to catch your flight.

If you hold a silver or gold card for Gulf Air, you can use their upstairs lounge which is one of the best I have seen, excellent food, booze, full internet facilities, quiet room with beds, showers, bathrooms. Very comfortable.

Dirt cheap cigarettes in Bahrain duty free if you're a smoker, decent smokes too, like back home.
