Do Most Bars Require HIV Testing?

Just wondering if any of these ladyboy bars in Thailand require HIV testing of their employees with say a rapid test or something!? Any ideas from those with relationships with the owners of any bars?

I'm also specifically interested in Tequila Bar in Phuket on Bangla Rd. if anyone knows that bar owner/mgr.

Hello JM07,

I'm pretty sure non of the bars in Nana (LB or GG) require testing for anything.
Don't know about the King's group bars in Patpong but I suspect it's the same.

In Pattaya La Bamba does test for HIV but I don't know if the test includes other STDs.
So far as I know that is the only bar in Pattaya that does but there are others that will know better than me.

Don't have any idea about Phuket.

most of the "girlz" in that bar is free-lancers... so the answer is no..

I was under the impressoin all gogo bars in Bangkok have required periodic testing unless something has changed.

Patpong is probably best in this regard with frequent periodic testing of everyone required in order for them to pick up their salary. They sometimes have required meetings (if you don't show, they dock your salary) where they bring a doctor in to explain safe sex and have even had impromptu on site testing to catch those who fake their documents. You can't assume anyone is safe, but they seem to do as much as you could reasonably expect.

I respect bars that do testing and have a lot of time for the Sisters group who regularly visit the bars and speak to the staff - employees and freelance. They hand out condoms and invite people to seminars. I know that Stringfellows used to caryy out checks and that Alis (manager) at La Bamba is very supportive of safe sex.

As much as we like/care about/admire LB's if they are in a bar they are in the P4P business and NOT virgins.

Sorry, but I have proof so I don't understand why you wish to deny it. I have also seen the little booklets the girls are required to have that are stamped with their test results. I am amazed no one else seems to know anything about this.

Yes you would have thought there would be dozens of posts supporting what you have seen. Are you sure these stamped books are specifically for HIV/other VD testing?? Never ever seen or heard anything like this in Patong (Phuket), and it would seem unlikely to not be there if mandated in BKK.

The problem is for some readers is they will take evidence of such books (written in Thai script) as proof their honey is squeaky clean, and fail to take the minimum precautions. That ranks as flat out bad advice to a punter, but you pays your money regardless, clear or not clear.

Again, I seriously doubt that Obsessions, Cascades, Temptations or Casanova requires periodic HIV testing...

The only meetings they have are the ones where the mamasan/papasan berates the girls to generate more business...

The NEP bars could care less about the girls or the customers...And neither the bars nor the girls can see past our wallets...

Precisely...and that's only if she hasn't been with someone HIV positive in the last 3 months to allow antibodies to present.

This sort of post seems to surface on all the forums with monotonous regularity. Bareback is high risk - there are no guarantees that you won't catch anything, even if widespread testing existed.

i do remember sabaii land and sabaii room (massage parlors) 2nd road pattaya in the 80.s and early 90.s the doc would show up and they would all go off for testing HIV stds i dont know but they were tested. i saw them filing off to have it done.
so weather its still happening is another guess who knows. best to rubber ones cock and use the old rain cote if your doing anal.

That's good at least someone else has noted regular testing taking place. A little background. Remember the police could stamp out pay for play places anytime they wish, but they instead uphold it. They will turn a blind eye to a venue given a few things in return: money of course, no drugs, no underage, girls are clean. Basically, if a place doesn't cause trouble for them and gives them something in return they allow it.  Sometimes you see a venue does not meet one of their inspections and is slapped with a month closure. And I for one have seen a girl cuffed and taken out of a gogo! I know a Thai bar owner who went through this initiation and explained it to me. Specifics may vary between jurisdictions as well.

For proof, I have much information acquired both directly and indirectly from several Bangkok gogo locales. And honestly Torurot, to claim a meeting never took place that you have absolutely no clue about when you probably weren't even within 1000 miles of it is simply ridiculous. My advice for those interested in this subject is don't trust me, but instead ask around some of the workers. And if you find a bar or entire area you are pretty sure does not require any testing, then by all means please post it here.

Regular testing is good thing in my opinion, however it is no guarantee of safety nor a reason to reduce good practices. And many may not be aware that alcohol can greatly increase your risk factor of catching any STD. Why? Because more alcohol can make caution go out the window.

Which of the 7 major ladyboys bars in BKK require testing and have medical professionals come in regularly to hold seminars/meetings with the ladyboys?

I would think that would be valuable information to share with other BM's...
