(reflections @ Aug. 17 2008,08:41) thanks Jana but where would you recommend in BKK?
Hi Reflections,
I have never played golf in BKK, just dont see it as a golfing destination compared to Pattaya or Hua Hin.
For example, in Pats, I normally stay around Soi Diana. So I leave my golf clubs in the Kronburg Bar bag room, right opposite Areca Lodge Hotel.
The Kronburg golfers depart at 9:30 am most mornings, so just be there by 9:30 and the buses are waiting.
Arrive course, beautiful caddies rush out and remove golf clubs. Get changed, arrive tee about 11am, beautiful caddie has teed ball up and hands you driver.
5 minutes later 4 happy golfers leave the first tee, smiling joking having fun while 4 beautiful caddies carry our bags.
We are usually finished by 4pm, have a beer, award prizes, back in Kronburg bar by 5pm, have a snooze and plenty of time to enjoy an evening in Patts.
Total cost for the day, about 1500 Baht, unbelievable.
In Bangkok, you would have to leave your hotel at 6am. Then after golf, allow a long time to get back to hotel, Pay a lot more and have much more hassle.
So most of us just skip the Bangkok golf experience.
I'm also 18 Handicap and getting worse every day.
Strongly recommend you try Pattaya golf, there is nothing like it in the world.
Hey Reflections,
How often are you in LOS? Â I was just there in May 2008, brought my own clubs with me from the states. Â I golfed in Phuket and I used the All Stars driving range in Bangkok. Â Last year I golfed in Pattaya and they do have great courses at a good price. Â Phuket was really pricey and I got charged extra to bring my clubs on Air Asia. Â Janabiyah thanks for the information on the Pattaya Sports Club, I will definitely join on my next trip to Pattaya. Â I stayed on Soi Diana and will do so again now that I know about this club. Â Reflections it nice to know there are other golfers on the board and I would love to golf with you if we are ever in LOS at the same time. Â I want to try some of the courses in Bangkok also, I usually stay in Bangkok a few days each trip and would enjoy playing a few rounds. Â I will post on the forum when I know the dates of my next trip
thanks Thaime I am going to BKK on September 14 for a week and staying at the Landmark
I have played some nice courses in BKK: 1.) Panna; 2.) windmill were the best. I want to play Navantane this time but for the two or three times I am going to play I dont feel like bringing my clubs and dealing with baggage etc. Jana is right I have had problems with rentals before and their rental clubs sucked and the grips were worn
wow jana you are right. I should go to Pattaya. do I need to join the club to meet at that bar at 9:30am and play or just show up with my clubs? thanks for the great tips

See my PM to you.
But I think others are also interested, so here goes.
Joining the PSC is very cheap. This gives you huge discount on green fees, so even if you only play once, you have covered your membership. It also gives you discount in the Areca lodge hotel, so it is a no brainer.
Golf is played every day, all year around in Pattaya, to participate gets you great golf on great courses at low prices.
Once you get into it, you find the organization is excellent, groups leaving from various bars at different times in the morning to suit the early risers and the late risers.
The golfers are all a fun crowd. Just go to the bar of your choice, introduce yourself to the organisers and you will be made very welcome.
They always have a draw to see who plays together and a bit of a competition with prizes afterwards.
Did I mention there is a bar every three holes on Pattaya courses?
Anyway, check out the latest info on the PSC web site, I guarantee you will enjoy the best golf of your lives.
