I had the pleasure of living in an apartment that I rented for 5000 baht a month on a quiet soi in Hua Hin during the Nov-Feb period. I had a ladyboy staying with me, therefore it was in truth more her apartment than mine, because I left to various parts of Thailand from time to time, either on visa runs or visits to my ex-wife's family land. I did not visit bars in Hua Hin although I was plugged into the news and gossip that surrounded the ladyboy scene and many of the ladyboys would visit the apartment being friends of my friend. Over the years the number of tourists has exploded and some of them stagger their way into the bars. There are no real ladyboy bars in Hua Hin but there are two cabaret theaters named Doi Boy and Blue Angel. Blue Angel has a small bar attached to the cabaret. But more and more gg bars have a ladyboy or two or three. Living in Hua Hin is pleasant but only if you stay away from the main beach and the farangs getting cooked in the sun syndrome and venture south to the next beaches south of the "monkey temple". I did this 3 or 4 times a week. The mall is good and the food rather exceptionally good, again if you stay away from the "Euro" style restaurants near Soi Bintaban. There is a dark side that I became aware of their reporting from the friends of my ladyboy lover--there is a significant yabba use among some of the cabaret ladyboys, in fact at least ten of them were busted a few days ago and have been sent to prison for 3 months, either for selling yabba or using yabba. There were many occasions where drunken farang were getting robbed. This used to be blamed on outside ladyboys(from Bangkok)but now it is the locals who do it, sometimes with the blessings of certain elements of the police. If ladyboys bribe certain policemen they will turn a blind eye to tourist complaints about theft.
This is just the present reality. There are good ladyboys here but finding one is swimming in shark infested waters.
There seem to be less tourists this year so the cash flow for ladyboys on the game is lower than expected. Hua Hin is rapidly becoming a bit too big for it's britches and developers are getting to the point of overbuilding and ruining the small town feel the city used to have.
