These days you have to know what your bank is offering for foreign ATM withdrawals.

I have 2 ATM cards, one used to be no-fee but then changed to $3 fee. The other used to have a fee and then changed to no-fee (limit 4 withdrawals a month).

Now I transfer money from A to B online, free, then make a big withdrawal from B...crazy

(bigmick22 @ Feb. 09 2008,10:32) I always rely on ATMs for my money - I think I was getting approx 50 baht to the euro in January which is about right
Sorry to labour the point but, when you say you use your ATM card, I assume you mean a current account card with Cirrus or equivalent.

I just had a look at my bank's charges and the Cirrus ATM International transaction fee is 2% with a maximum charge of ‚¬12 plus a 1.5% foreign exchange fee....not sure how this compares to exchange fees at home.

Using MAESTRO for purchases or payments comes with a 1% foreign exchange fee to a max of ‚¬6 plus a 1% transaction fee to a max of ‚¬6.

(seamus @ Feb. 07 2008,03:42) So where do most BM drink or meet up these days as Guess seems not to be in favour these days ?
Why The Guess Bar, of course...

(We have a go at them every now and then just to let 'em know who's boss around here... (and it's Jay!)

PM me when you get here...Always like to lose to an Irishman at drinking games...

                  That's good, because I only got 48 bath/euro (Rabobank/Netherlands).
yes - I was pleasantly surprised.

                  Go "Bank of Ireland"!

a big Paddy's day bash in LOS with plenty of BMs (and a few LBs) would be an interesting night alright. Unfortuntely, I won't be back until the summer :-(
