  • Thai Air LA to BKK non stop

    Hi guys,

Been flying EVA for a while now but thought I would
try this non stop 18 hours from LA to BKK.

Anyone here been on this flight?

I will be in PTY for 8 days starting March 4th. Be fun to hook up for a beer if anyone else is going to be there then.
I'm a young 54 year old. Live in LA CA.

Thai also runs a non stop flight from New York (JFK) to BKK. I know someone that was just on it and he thought it was great even if it's a long flight.

I've used both from time to time and the only really good thing I can say about them is that they're nonstop and you avoid the extra security hassle at some stopover airport. Let's face it: TG is generally a very average airline. Average service, average food, average comfort, and that's if everything goes right. God help you if things start to go south and you have to rely on TG employees to put them right however. The driver will unquestionably flee the scene.

If you fly business class on the long nonstops, also be warned that the seating on TG is not good. For the same or even a lower fare, you will find much better seats and greater comfort on CX or SQ. You just have to endure the extra stop.

I've flown it and had no problems. But I also like JAL via Tokyo - and I usually decide just on price.

Going to BKK is easiest on a person's body if flown nonstop. 17 hours from jfk vs 23+ hours with one stop. If two stops its simply abuse.
Also going nonstop brings you to LOS in the late afternoon, whereas all the connecting flights bring you in after midnight
          .
Easily flying nonstop is worth the extra couple of hundred dollars, but have usually found TG to be much cheaper. Something about them not being able to fill up all the seats, every single day.

I really enjoyed my experience on that flight, i paid extra for the business economy, and my section was empty on both legs. The food wasnt great, but the service was good, and all the employees were very pleasant and friendly. I definately will use Thai airways again.

              Thanks guys for the responces.

I too went for business economy. EVA called it Evergreen class. Worth the extra bucks I think.

I have taking PAL to the Phillipines non stop. I thought it was like heaven after mostly taking NWA on most trecks and changing planes in Japan.

I've done the 17 hour from New York.  The inflight entertainment makes it bearable.

If the LA plane is configured the same as the NY plane then do the best you can to get Row 44.

I've flown Thai Air last Oct. from NYC. The seats are much more roomier than most airlines i've been on, especially compared to Cathay. Cathay was the worst, seats are so close together, felt like the IRT number #6 train during rush hour- brings back memories Snick? The food wasn't too good though.

I would fly with them again(God willing) cause it's direct, 17hrs. and it gets me into Bkk right on time (4:30pm). Just in time to shit, shower, shave, relax and get ready for the nights festivities
