I will be in Thailand for 19 days starting May 1st. I want to spend 6 days in Phuket and was wondering if I should fly into Phuket from Bangkok or Pattaya? Does one have an advantage over the other? Thanks in advance for your advice. This will be my fourth trip to Thailand and each time my stays get longer. Hopefully I can work up to 3 months, 6 months, and then make the move. Thanks again

In my opinion you would be better off to fly to Phuket from Bangkok. The Pattaya airport is served by Bangkok Airways and perhaps a few private charter companies. It is called U-Tapao and was a former military airbase. The airport is located about 30 km south of Pattaya.
If you fly out of Bangkok, you have a choice of more airlines and more flights (for scheduling purposes), plus you can probably get a better deal from one of the discount airlines.

(Thaime @ Jan. 11 2008,02:47) I will be in Thailand for 19 days starting May 1st.
Having said that, it's not cold, horrible rain but it can be very wet.
Once it stops the sun comes out and it's glorious, if you're just interested in the bars and not the beach then a lot of the girls leave Phuket during low season, some go home and others go to BKK or Pattaya. Prices drop and you can get a nice seat at the beer bars.
