I have just glanced at a few headlines about the happenings in Pattaya this week including a couple of funny ones about ladyboys ( Katoey Crackdown and Russian Roulette )

    www.pattayapeople.com/default.asp?Folder=2089

I have personally never witnessed any of the shit that goes on in Pattaya, and just wondered if any of you guys had any stories or bad experiences you had seen or encountered and does it put you off going?

Ha ha, I like the part that states: "Police apprehended 158 lady boys of differing beauty." Wouldn't want to be caught picking favorites!

The problem Pattaya has is that there are 4 English language 'newspapers' (and I use that term in its most generic sense) and they all struggle to fill their pages with anything happening. So all they do is have the journalist (well sort of) tune the radio into the police frequency and basically follow them around. It just so happens that 3 of these newspapers also have TV news channels, so as well as the journalist for the paper, you have some clown with a Sony video recorder as well. The said newspapers dont actually ever do any real investigative reporting for fear of upsetting someone important - which is why there is ZERO follow up on whatever happens to someone that is murdered, robbed etc, just in case the Judge may have taken a bribe and the offender is amazingly founf not guilty due to lack of evidence. Just part of the normal Thai lifestyle, but it gets much attention, simply as Pattaya has nothing else newsworthy to support all these advertising leafelts, that once in a while actually have something worth reading in them.

Probably the same thing happens in Bangkok, but as their are no local English language newspapers of the same ilk, the stories dont even get reported.

          Cheers

            Some nice discrimination.

Can you imagine them apprehending women prostitutes? I believe I read there are some 200,000++ in Pattaya. They arrest LBs because they can.

Actually they do frequently arrest girls on Beach Road to try and discourage them from hanging about not that it seems to have much success. The issue with Ladyboys is that they are the one's making headlines for stealing things off drunk idiots walking along Beach Road at 2am in the morning. If you chat to any LB working in a bar, they have a big dislike for their Beach Road cousins and that applies to both LB's and GG's. The LB problem is 'perceived' to be the issue due to the large numbers of the thieving ho's on Beach Road. It is reality I am afraid to say and I for one have no problem with the police finally doing something about it - the darker part of Second Road between the Siam Bayshore Hotel and Soi 9 is also a problem area and many robberies have taken place in that area.

              Cheers

How many years will the Ya Ice dealer get?

                http://www.pattayapeople.com/default...IdArticle=4454

I guess it's not his first run in with the law, but I get the impression that drug crimes in Thailand produce far worse penalties than in the US, and that the amount of money one can make is far, far less. High risk, low returns - sounds like a bad investment of time and money.

Retired the top 12.  Need a new dirty dozen.

Update: The new list is coming together: Nong Poy, Anita, Nok, Gif, Liisa Winkler, Kay, Nina Poon.  Is it possible to find 5 more?  Until then, GGs:  Jessica Alba, Yuko Ogura, Zhang Ziyi, Maggie Q, and Gong Li.

Also, on the 158 LBs arrested, it said that around 10 percent are officially female. Does that mean GG or post-op?

Well - they wouldn't arrest any if they couldn't!

The truth is ladyboys afterdark are a direct threat to the farangs going home from the bars.

You can argue that tourists shouldn't be out drunk and swerving in and out of traffic at 2am looking for a boy in a frock to fuck, but the fact remains it is NOT (usually) girls who are loitering about looking to intimidate farangs and rip them off in the early hours.

These aren't cute little femmy boys looking for one last ass-poke to make the lekky bill. These are seasoned pros in their late twenties who are out to create trouble.

If they were raiding known prostitutes houses during the day and only cuffing the trannies then you'd have a salient point to an argument for discrimination.

This isn't the case and if your prowling the streets intimidating the public and selling your body then you are breaking the law.

99% of the 'real' girls are all tucked up in bed with their Thai husbands by this time...

Pattaya has always been full of farang scallywags & the brownshirts say they have won the lottery when they get posted to the Pattaya police station.

When Spain agreed an extradition treaty with several countrys ( including the UK ), but made it all very public, & then said it won't come into force for 12months it gave all the gangsters a chance to get out. Thailand / Phillippines here we come. There's loads going on all the time, if the Thai news channel was done properly in English & made public, your average package tour sheep would never go there.

When the brown shirts round up the LB's its proabably blow jobs alround & a quick hand out of the cash in the handbags. Unfortunately they seem to be easy targets everywhere. I wouldn't say the beach road is any wores now than it was 10-15years ago. In fact in my opinion its got considerably better, lighting & unsavory people wise.

You pays your money & takes your chance. This isn't a rehearsal do it now, it's no good looking back when it's a lover & wishing.... ITS TOO LATE.

I don't need to read the Pattaya news to make me think twice about going there.

I must admit I have never seen most of what is reported in the news myself.

Pattaya is like Sydney to me a great place to visit for few days but would not want to live there.
