Mardhi you make some very good points, and I couldn't agree with you more.
On my last time in Pattaya 3 weeks ago, it did seem to me that the inmates were taking over the asylum, what with all the "where's Franck" posts. However, I think the new controls, procedures and prices have done the job of re-launching 131. Let me just say that, after examination of the bar's books and records, a fortune was being "lost" every month was the only conclusion I can make.
The longterm fortune of 131 will ultimately rest on the day-to-day transactions and encounters staff will have with customers. If these are good for customers, the bar will remain one of the best LB Venues in Thailand. The outlook is quite promising.

Regarding Pentire's earlier post about how the bar is being run by a group of LBs with a proprietor in the US as a non-profit co-operative. All I can say is that all the bills are paid on time, I have insisted that the staff pay cash for all stock purchases and if our friends, the BIB, didn't visit us again a month ago, the bar would have had a very nice balance in the bank.
Cheers,
Sam
Apart from yourself, who controls the rudder of Club 131 as she is about to coast into her first Pattaya high season because it appears that promotion via these internet forums is not their strong suit.
Also, when franck paid the peelers 70k last time; I remember him telling me that in return the chief collector told him that ''your bar shall now be left alone''
Simple reality is a business is in business to make money, not to employ people, not to make peoples dreams come true and certainly not to manufacture widgets or whatever - anybody that says any different is totally loopy. When its my money - if it dont make money, we change it to make sure it does - it is that simple. I am hearing good things about how management are taking back the asylum and I hope it continues to develop - but guys make no mistake - bars are not charities, they are profit centres and if it dont make a profit, they must be closed regardless of the sentiment, unless you have deep pockets in which you might as well just set light to a few greenbacks, Euro, pounds etc etc and be done with it.
Sentiment is all well and good however it does not pay the bills as people soon discover.
Cheers
Mardhi
You only have to walk around the Best Friend, Siren, Drinking Street, Covent Garden and Soi 3 plus other second & third rd areas to see.
Of course they should close, many of them should never have opened in the first place.
And do you know, Franck often told me that he never got involved in 131 to make money, it was just to have some fun while surrounded by ladyboys.
He certainly never lied to me in that statement.

(pentire @ Nov. 13 2007,07:04) So unfortunate to read that the BIB paid another visit to 131 Sam.

Several nights later, the same group paid a visit to Blue Ice and the Frenchman called me to please help him by paying November's rent early. His tab was 40k.

Contrary to some of the doom and gloom I've been reading about Club 131, I want to once again highly reccomend it. I spent several enjoyable evenings there in early October.
One of the most enjoyable nights was spent helping the ladies sample various types of cocktails. The owner had brought in a old "Mr. Boston" bar guide and the girls where trying to identify cocktails that could be made for an upcoming party later in the week. It was fun seeing what they could come up with (working our way from A to Z and tasting the results (not all winners), anyway a nice change from bottled beer.
The staff seems as friendly as when Club 131 was the darling of this board (when I visited last Spring). I find when I go there I want to bone 3/4 of the staff and I think that I have fairly high standards. I will even put in a positive note here for Kartoon (the unflattering photo prevously in this thread does not provide an accurate picture). I think most board member if they saw her in the flesh would not kick her out of bed (bad angles/lighting can make any of us not look our best).
Anyway wanted to put in an unsolicited positive note after pages of negativity.

Enjoyed a couple of hours in 131 the other day. Still a cool place and some of the girls are nice (Nicky, Kwang and this Sunny girl from BKK). I never spent much time with Franck so I couldn't really care less if he is gone.
When I compare Litas and 131 I think the atmosphere was a bit better in Litas but the quality of the girls was a bout the same. I guess both are good bars.Back in LOS in February

Just read all the press on Club 131. I know Pampamsam who is the "owner" of 131 and offered to help recover what is basically an OK business.
I have implemented new book keeping and stock control - they had never done a stock count and somehow purchases exceeded sales - still looking for the "mountain" of stock or perhaps it was another scam!!! Stock bought through teh partnership but sold out the back with proceeds going to only one partner.
After 6 weeks of changes the bar is now stable and there is a good team of LB's. We all have different tastes (thank goodness or there would only be one incredibly busy LB working). The staff seem happy now and their renumeration is more fair (Yes he even screwed his staff literally and metaphorically - financially).
I am "caretaking" for Sam and go to the bar nearly every evening. I am no Franck, at front of house, but then I am not looking to borrow money!
The bar does now show a profit but if anyone thinks they will make a fortune running a bar in Pattaya I would recommend betting on a 3 legged donkey at Ascot!
There is room for a variety of bars in Pattaya - I should know as I visit most of them - each one offers something different - 131 is casual/relaxed through to Lita's - great music and great host in Karl - on to Triple X - wild and uncontrolled - finally 2 LB GoGo's - Stringfellows and Goldfingers. Not forgetting Linda/BlueIce/JSB/Tornado/Cats.........
So you have a choice of venues distributed around Pattaya with a variety of LB's.
I hope to meet more of you when you visit and apologise for not posting here. The last event was the Halloween party which another BM covered. There are new cocktails on offer and the staff are not as pushy as many bars.
Tar from Lita's joined this week.

I suggest that you get busy with your camera - start up a NEW thread - and start pushing the bar on here (and other forums.)
This is the best way I can think of, of getting back the punters on your side and getting them back inside the bar for meetings with other lb lovers.
Good luck to both you and PamPamSam, but you'll need to do more than just open the doors and hope for the best.
Cheers...

I want to take this opportunity to thank all the BMs who have re-endorsed Club 131, namely tampanugget_2001 and bbb2k2. It is you, our loyal customers that make 131 one of the premier destinations in Pattaya. Newcomers who have yet to visit our bar count on your input before making their plans.
Stogie Bear you are absolutely right. Hopefully, Rossco and I will begin showing BMs all our girls in all their glory.
Cheers
Sam

I had gone upstairs with another and it seemed to make her upset.
Went back the next night and took another one of her friends.
