Pook Swan (Soi Buakhaw) & Pook Bar (Soi 6)

Fellow Members,
I am a little confused about Pook Swan House (Buakhaw) vs Pook Bar (Soi 6).  Every time I go to the Pook's (Soi 6) and go short time upstairs, I only have to pay for the girl, and the room.  When I go to Pooks Swan (Soi Buakhaw), I have to pay for the girl, the room and a barfine.  The weird thing is that Pooks Swan sometimes charges me the barfine & on other occasions they don't. It was my understanding that there is no barfine if you take the girl ST upstairs. Aren't they owned by the same person? So, is there supposed to be a barfine at Pook's Swan even if you just take the girl upstairs for ST?  Trust me I have even spoken to the mamasan at Pooks Swan but get nowhere.  Thanks guys. I think you need to compare what you are actually paying. As far as I know the ST fee for room and bf is 300 in both location, plus whatever you pay to the girl.

Could it be that someone at Pook Swan is trying to make some money on the side? ;-)

But I have never used their ST-rooms, so I am only speaking from hearsay ...

Can't tell you about ST room rates and barfines...Sorry...Never do ST...

Talk with Pook...She is usually at the Soi 6 bar in the late afternoon...

I suspect this may be your answer. And the reason why you can't get anywhere with the mamasan? Simple, she's either behind it or allowing the staff a little earner on the side.

I would not go making a big deal of it, not if you want to avoid trouble. And if you go to Pook & start naming names, you set up a classic farang/Thai culture clash. No amount of refund will be worth what follows.

If you are on holiday, put it down to experience; if you live in LOS, then ignore it & only deal with the girl who hasn't charged you the extra. If they ask again, be firm but refuse, even if you have to forego your ST. The girls want all the business they can get, they will argue your case far better than you ever could.

Even better is to avoid places where people get ripped off.

EZY Bar, LaBamba, Famous Bar, SoWhat, and Lucky Love are all well run bars where i have not heard of rippoffs.

Seems to be a common theme emerging here, unfortunately all involving Pook's bars.

Customers getting thousands of baht in un-ordered ladydrinks added to their bins in Pook Soi 6. Strange fees being added for barfines to the charges in Pook Swan.

Yes, the girls are probably the ones that ultimately are behind it, they're desperate for income. But the management at EZY certainly wouldn't allow anyone to get away with that. Can't speak directly about LaBamba, Famous, SoWhat or Lucky Love but I'll take PD's word, and the fact that you don't hear about these shenanigans happening anywhere but Pook's clubs.

   To blame Pook Bars exclusively would be to draw the wrong conclusion. The pressure is on everywhere to separate us from our baht. Perhaps the culture in Pook is a little more 'direct' but their girls are no better or worse than anywhere else.

With Nok, Karl, Lita & Hansi watching their bar, the girls simply don't get the chance thus the culture doesn't develop to pad bins, etc. But drop your guard by being either careless or drunk at ANY bar & they will take advantage.

Very true...I've been overcharged in all the major bars...Pook certainly doesn't have
an exclusive on overcharging...It's happened to me at Ezy and La Bamba and Stringfellows
and Obsessions on more than one occasion...

Pacman is 100% correct...Don't make too big a deal out of it...Take your business to another
bar if it bothers you....

Perhaps Deepthroat can expand on his experience of getting ripped off for thousands of baht
at Pooks...

   I believe DT is referring to the incident in Pook Soi 6 a while back where Onetruesaxon, a member of another forum, was charged for 17 lady drinks he didn't order.

He made the mistake of leaving the bar for cigarettes while leaving an open bin behind him. And that wasn't a one-off. Others have reported the same. Though they erroneously blamed the poor serving girl whose job it was to put the bills in the bin.

You know the mentality - "I saw her put the bill in my bin, she's ripping me off".

Wrong! She's the messenger, the entire bar were in on it.

Perhaps he did and simply didn't realize it...Sounds as if he may have bought the bar (rang the bell) a drink...

In any event, it seems to me that it's patently unfair to malign the bar on the basis of what someone reported on another forum...

In retrospect, I don't think that I've ever been overcharged at either Pook...But that only makes me lucky...

It definitely happened, I left the bar a few minutes before but I was told all about it by Onetruesaxon & others who were there. I discussed the incident in my "More of Pattaya's Finest" thread.

There's a bit more to the story though, OTS's girlfriend works in the same bar & while she was deemed to be in charge of his bin in his absence, the girls struck. It cost her the relationship but as I explained at the time, I believe she would have been powerless to stop it.

Why he never sent someone to buy cigarettes is the bigger mystery to me.

I have never had any trouble at the Pooks but I am biased, At Soi six Pook has bought me a beer on two occasions she is good and plays a mean game of pool. At the other location it is good to put a bit of work in on the tan with a perve at the same time. Back next month but will be keeping an eye out for the ab iove mentioned sharp practises
