The handwriting was on the walls, as they put in the hard yards leading up. Practising on that ghetto court when they couldn't get to the beach.
Congratulations to them and their sponsor. I'm guessing it wasn't even close.
Any all tournament teams selected or MVP's by our experts on the ground?
I have to be involved with this somewhere down the line, hope this tradition keeps going.
Your guess would be incorrect. The final game between Pook and So What was a closely contested battle.
Near the end, Pook led 18-15, when they lose the serve to So What. Betty was next to serve for So What, and she never lost serve after that, taking it from an 18-15 deficit to a 21-18 victory.
Pook, though not as big overall or as physically intimidating, gave So What all they could handle. They played well as a team, and really hustled and scrapped to keep the game close, led by Ploy and Bow. In the eyes of more than one observer, Ploy of Pook was the best individual player on any team. Though to say for certain is somewhat subjective. IMO, she was definitely one of the top 2-3 players overall.
So What had such a formidable cohesive team though. Jennifer is another player that one could say was the best individual player on any team too. I never seen her make an unforced error in any game. To lead off their first game, Betty also served. I said to myself...self I said, this kid is a dynamite server. She was also strong in other aspects of her game as well. Her service ability came back into play at the end too, when she came up to serve at the end of the final. Fah was the tallest, most physically intimidating player around the net and she made it hard for other teams to try and spike the ball.
I have to give some accolades to Stringfellows too. They gave Pook a bit of a battle in one game and even jumped out to an early lead before Pook came storming back to win. A surprisingly very good player was Jen from Stringfellows. To look at her, one does not get the impression she would be an athletic type of girl, but she was definitely their #1 player and made a lot of superb plays around the net.
Kwang from La Bamba also displayed fine volleyball skills too. Their team did not look as well practiced as Pook and So What, but Kwang as an individual player would make the Lefty All Star First Team for this tournament. I hope no one sees that as biased, since all of us who know this lady, love her as a person, if not more, but all that aside, she is a fine player.
That's it from this reporter for now. I am going over my mental notes to compile my official Lefty First Annual Tournament All Star Team. Which I may post later today.

Kwang was also the successful bidder, 1000 baht, for one of the items at the charity auction at the evening's party.
We'll do this again next year, and the winning LB team will then play Team Snick
consisting of Me, Monkeyman, Tim's Boy, Socrates, Kahuna, TTChang and whoever else drunk
enough too be drafted.

I will sponsor you next year TT Chang!
Mrs. Bator Jenny used to be in the high school volleyball team.
Forgot to ask her if that was the boys or the girls team...

Are you intentionally trying to come up with the worst possible team you can? Maybe you and MM could do ok, but I'm afraid we'd need to keep an ambulance parked nearby if you want those old codgers to play. Or maybe keep some lbs lined up for mouth to mouth resuscitation because much as I love Kahuna, I ain't locking lips to give him mouth to mouth.
Just kidding boys, don't kill me or anything. I'd really give Kahuna mouth to mouth if he needed it and PigDogg wouldn't do it.

Always the diplomat Jim
.... I think Lefty was probably spot on (the thought of him giving me mouth to mouth - or even the sight of him giving Kahuna one) means that I will remain as the official water carrier.
Might start an Old Codgers' team though (that emoticon is a lot more lively than we will be though).
(TTChang @ Oct. 11 2009,00:41) Hundreds of action shots were taken by the BB professional types. So mine are mainly of team members off court. Before the start .....
