French Man Arrested for Allegedly Offering Underage Sex Service in Pattaya

Pattaya, Chon Buri - Police Wednesday arrested a French man for allegedly providing boys under 18 for sex services.

Jean Eric Lopez, 47, was arrested inside Soi Sunee Plaza in Bang Lamung district.

Police were alerted by officials from the Federal Bureau of Investigation to arrest Lopez. The FBI officials informed the Thai police that Lopez had been allegedly offering underage sex services to foreigners at his bar.

French Paedophile Arrested In Pattaya Selling Child Sex

A combined force from Thailand's Department of Special Investigation (DSI) and local police in this coastal province late Tuesday night arrested a French businessman who runs many entertainment venues in the seaside resort of Pattaya on charge of sexually abusing child and providing child sex for his customers.

Chon-Buri, the 25th of January 2010 [TNA]: French national Jean Eric Lopez, 47, was arrested after the DSI€™s Bureau of Foreign Affairs and Transnational Crime was informed by representatives of the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in Thailand and French national police based at the French Embassy in Thailand that Mr Lopez used to run entertainment venues which offered boy sex trade for hire and the accused himself had sexually abused children.

According to the investigation, the DSI officials found that Mr Lopez is a shareholder in several entertainment venues for homosexuals in Pattaya, which provide children aged between 12 and 20 year-old to the customers.

The Pattaya Court issued an arrest warrant of Mr Lopez on Tuesday and he was arrested hours later.

The DSI operation officials also impounded a number of gay sex CDs and condoms. The French national has been charged with taking indecent liberties with children aged under 18-years-old despite having the child€™s consent.

The accused denied the charges and was later taken to Pattaya for further questioning.

In the first night of the Pattaya police crackdown, bars were checked and arrests were made in Pattaya's Sunee Plaza, which attracts mostly a gay clientele.

With cooperation from the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), agents from the Department of Special Investigation (SDI) with cooperation from Pattaya Police, Chonburi Immigration Bureau and the Women and Children€™s Protective Service agents based in Banglamung, the massive police force checked many bars then raided a particular bar snubbed by other Sunee Plaza owners and arrested the alleged owner Jean Eric Lopez of Pattaya and some of his staff.

An eyewitness walking through Sunee Plaza located behind TukCom IT Center and near Soi VC said, "The police swarmed seemingly out of nowhere. They were on a mission. They went in and out of many bars without incident, but when they got to two bars they really were looking for something. They found it and came out with a middle-aged white guy, a computer, a box of DVDs and some young boys."

Jean Eric Lopez, holding a French passport, is now charged with statutory rape stemming from activity in his bar. He was arrested a few hours ago for allegedly operating a bar in Pattaya€™s Sunee Plaza that police say used underage boys for escort services and lewd stage shows and allegedly abused young boys and offered sex for pay to customers as an outcall service" from his bar.

If convicted, he may serve jail time of up to 7 years in Thailand, be blacklisted from ever returning and also have to serve time in his home country for the same crime perpetrated in Thailand under a special agreement between member states of the EU and the USA with Thailand and Cambodia.

€œIf you have sex with children or sell them into prostitution over there in Thailand you will do double time- there and here,€ said an FBI agent based in Los Angeles, California.

According to a spokesman from the Sunee Plaza Association which is made up of more than 30 reputable businesses in Sunee Plaza, €œHe [Lopez] was banned from joining the group and his bar was one of the few plaguing the reputation of Sunee which is under renovation and upgrading.€

He added, €œOur clients like to have drinks, dine and mingle for some fun and relaxation. They are as repulsed by what was going on in the bars with under aged boys as anyone would be. It needs to stop. It brings drugs, crime and a sense of desperation to the area all caused by only a handful of places.€

A spokesman of Thailand Spice! Magazine, the only nationwide nightlife entertainment magazine in Thailand, said, "The Sunee Plaza area is definitely on the rebound as it cleanses itself of the few bad operators and may one day compete with the most famous gay-friendly entertainment area of Boyztown - always a must visit - and the evolving, sophisticated Jomtien Plaza area. If police raids it what it takes to speed up the process at Sunee, so be it.€

"Since 1998, Thailand Spice! has always been the magazine that promoted the best of gay nightlife and fine dining, day trekking and great hotels in all of Thailand, not the worst of it. This is good to have the areas cleaned of the very few bad businesses in Sunee preying on the young,€ said the Thailand Spice! magazine editor based in Pattaya.

Lopez, 47, has run several gay bars in Thailand that provide services mainly to foreigners. Pattaya Police also seized his computer and hundreds of pornographic videos and pictures in his possession.

This is the first night of raids that are expected at gay bars, beer bars and go go bars all around Pattaya which have €œbar fines€ and €œshort time rooms€ and are owned by foreigners who may be part of some organized crime using €œlaundered€ money.

Bars with no illegal activity have no cause for concern, nor do patrons, said one leading police officer associated with the crackdown

French National Provides Boys for Prostitution in Pattaya

Pattaya 30th January 2010 [PDN] At 5.00pm a taskforce from the prevention of Trafficking of Woman and Children and Mr. Supakorn Noja (Child Protection and Development Center Director) joined forces in the arrest of a French National, Mr. Alexandre Andre Janver [60] at Silom Beer Bar, Moo 10, Soi Sunee Plaza, South Pattaya.

He was arrested on 7 charges of; 1. Providing children under 15 for prostitution, 2. Providing children under 15 to support other€™s sexual needs, 3. Owning the operation of Child Prostitution, 4. Working without a work permit, 5. Hiring children under 18 to work, 6, Hiring children to work that would probably endanger their lives, and mind, 7. Selling people into illegal prostitution.

Due to the previous cases of the German and English apprehensions for indecent assaults of minors under the age of 15 at the beginning of January 2009 by the team of Prevention of Trafficking of Woman and Children region 2, it was learned that the children were provided by a French National known as King Gay who ran Silom Beer Bar. It has taken a year of investigation and patience to be sure of the allegations which has proved fruitful.

A court warrant was provided for his arrest, but each time the man managed to evade the police until 30th January when the officers had information of his visit the bar to pay staff their salaries. Keeping the bar under surveillance resulted in the apprehension and arrest of Mr. Janver. The officers escorted him to his residence at a shop house in Soi Bua Khaw for more information and discovered a bank book with a total of 30,000-40,000 baht per day being deposited. The bank book was kept as evidence.

Mr. Janver denied all charges and did not offer any information. He said the accusations were due to some one persecuting him because he ran 3 bars in Soi Sunee Plaza which were closed due to continued intervention and arrests from police.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Kreetha Tankhanarat (the Prevention of Trafficking of Woman and Children chief) revealed that officers had enough evidence gathered during the year long investigation to charge Mr. Janver. In addition to this, the victims had told the prosecutor that they were forced by the French suspect into prostitution. Mr. Janver will be held for further judicial procedure.

If these guys are convicted I think it will go a long way towards stamping out the underage problem in Sunee. However, if these guys wind up walking, then that will embolden others.

This was the one line which pissed me off the most;

Many Thai establishments have children below 18 working in them; hell, we even read stories up here about some of the ladyboy bar owners who have 17 and probably 16 year old girls working in their bars.

But this pervert was fucking boys below the age of 15 as well as allowing 'em to have sex with fat old pedophiles for profit; 7 years in a thai prison eating rice and cockroaches every day and then 7 years more back in France is way too easy a sentence for this fuckwit
