I would guess it is Thai logic - they might presume the English would be attracted to a bar named after their homeland.

This is about as screwy as assuming that I would flock to a place calling itself the Kangaroo Bar.

That name alone would guarantee my non-attendance. The only place for Aussie paraphernalia is in a museum, not where I am trying to relax.

Going by the small font and the fact it is written in Thai I would guess the company registered it as "England" originally. Sometimes the police crack down on establishments because it is illegal to display a name different than that registered by the business. Happened in Soi Cowboy a few years ago where several well known bars suddenly changed to very peculiar names.
